Njenje Rallies Royals Ahead of Chegutu Clash
CRANBORNE Royals defender Sharon Njenje says the squad is prepared to give everything when they face Chegutu Community Queens at Pfupajena Stadium tomorrow 13 May 2026.
The 22-year-old former Black Rhinos Juniors player, who celebrates her birthday today, believes the 11:00 AM kick-off presents a vital opportunity for the Royals to assert themselves in the league. Njenje emphasized a collective shift in focus, shifting from individual goals to a unified team effort as they head into the tough away fixture.
"Tomorrow’s game is a chance for us to prove ourselves. We know it won’t be easy, but we’re ready to give everything for our team," Njenje said.
"Our focus is to stay calm, follow the coach’s plan, and do our job. We need to stay focused for the whole match and give 100 percent effort."
With the season still in its early stages, the resolute defender noted that consistency and discipline remain the bedrock of their campaign.
"The season is long, so every game matters. I know individuals have to train hard even when no one is watching, learn from our mistakes, and take care of our bodies to avoid injury. If we do this every week, the team will improve," Njenje said.
Njenje, who draws inspiration from her family and coach, as well as Warriors international Devine Lunga also spoke of her long-term aspirations. While she harbors dreams of representing the Mighty Warriors on the international stage, her vision extends far beyond her playing days.
"One day I want to play for the national team and defend for the country. That would make my family and fans proud," she said.
Looking toward the future, the Royals' backline specialist expressed a desire to mentor the next generation of Zimbabwean talent.
"After I finish playing, I want to coach kids and give back to football. Opening an academy near my and teaching young players about discipline, respect, and hard work is my dream. For us footballers, it’s not just about trophies, but about building something that lasts and helping others grow," Njenje said.
Cranborne Royals FC occupies the 13th position on the log with a single point whilst the hosts are on number 10 with three points as we approach match day four.
