Welcome to the Sables Rugby Network..
The trials and tribulations of The Sables over the years has been well documented and left many a Zim rugby fan heartbroken. From the narrow bonus point mix up which cost us our 2015 World Cup spot to the relegation tenure / battle of 2018 its fair to say that a lot hasnโt gone our way. But with the right people in the right places that are giving their all for the jersey and our country Iโm pleased to say that the results and feel good vibe is slowly coming back.
2019 saw Zimbabwe rugby participate in the Supersport Challenge for the first time. It saw the Sables win their first silverware in 8yrs winning the Victoria cup and we managed to climb to a high of 30th in the World Rugby rankings from an unconvincing 49th months early. 2020 showed so much promise and then Covid. But we donโt plan on this being the end of us and it has only strengthen our resolve to come back even stronger on the pitch in 2021 with Currie Cup Division 1 on the cards, Rugby Africa qualifies and end of year tours planned.
That being said we have had a lot of time off the field in 2020 to figure out the HOW TO and it always comes down to sponsors, finances and support doesnโt it?
With the above in mind, understanding that the world has changed slightly and having access to people from all over the world that have digital presence we birthed the idea of โTHE SABLES RUGBY NETWORKโ What is the Sables Rugby Network?
An independent brand that plans to capture the hearts of Zimbabweans and their love for home and rugby. It's a network that gives our supporters access to the Sables, behind the scenes scoop, video content, supporters gear, in depth conversations with coaches and a well documented journey as we build up to the pinnacle of the sport - Qualifying for the World cup.
A chance for Everyone to get involved with us and show us their support. Be part of the journey and play a small role in what ever that might be - becoming a sponsor, buying a raffle ticket or providing us with much needed expertise on or off the field.
It is also an opportunity for us to build a legacy, supporting those that are less fortunate than us at home. To help us grow the game from grassroots in Zim and take it to places it's never been, we developing this platform that serves the need for now and establishes a foundation for the Sables in years to come.
