The Chawinga sisters stole the show as Temwa Chawinga and Tabitha Chawinga** inspired the Malawi Scorchers to a stunning 3-2 victory over defending champions Nigeria in their 2026 WAFCON Group C opener.
Malawi came out firing from the first whistle, causing problems for the Super Falcons with their pace, movement, and clinical finishing. The Scorchers built a commanding lead before Nigeria mounted a spirited comeback with two late goals. However, the Super Falcons' rally fell just short as Malawi held on to secure a famous victory on their Women's Africa Cup of Nations debut.
