Fresh from graduating from our Under-16 program, our Under-19 claimed 1st Place at the 3x3 Basketball Tournament hosted by Sports in Action.
In a highly competitive and closely contested final, the team showed great composure and determination to defeat Kabwata Tigers and lift the tournament trophy.
This achievement reflects the hard work, discipline, and development of our players as they continue their journey within the academy.

The Art of Shooting a Basketball
Shooting a basketball is more than just throwing the ball at the rim, it's a combination of balance, technique, focus, and repetition. Great shooters make the game look simple because they have mastered the fundamentals.
Key Elements of a Great Shot
🏀 Balance
Feet shoulder-width apart.
Knees slightly bent.
Stay balanced from the ground up.
🏀 Eyes on the Target
Focus on the front or back of the rim, whichever works best for you.
Keep your eyes locked on the target throughout the shot.
🏀 Elbow In
Your shooting elbow should be directly under the ball.
This creates a straight shooting line.
🏀 Follow Through
Extend your arm fully.
Snap your wrist and hold your follow-through.
Imagine "reaching into the cookie jar" or letting your hand rest in the rim.
🏀 Arc and Touch
A higher arc gives the ball a better chance of going in.
Shoot with soft touch rather than force.

Graduating from our Under 19 setup to the upper category under the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) is Starnley, commonly known as “Buga.” Known for his clean and legit pull-up shot, calm composure on the ball, and being highly vocal on the court, Buga brings leadership, energy, and confidence every time he steps onto the floor.
From wearing our colors since Under 10, he has stayed committed to the academy’s journey, growing through every stage with dedication and consistency. His voice on the court reflects his passion for the game and his willingness to lead and encourage teammates in every situation.
Buga is truly one of the academy’s own, a real son of our home who represents our culture, values, and identity with pride. His journey from the junior ranks to the upper category is a testament to patience, discipline, and trusting the process.

Graduating from our Under 19 setup to the upper category under the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) is Charles, commonly known as “Snake Muscle.” A true son of the academy, Charles has proudly represented our badge since Under 10, growing through every stage with loyalty, discipline, and commitment to the Buffalo Youth Basketball Academy journey.
Currently pursuing a Diploma in Registered Nursing at Defence School of Health Sciences, Charles continues to prove that education and basketball can move hand in hand.
On the hardwood, Snake Muscle is known for his fearless mentality, hustle-until-forever attitude, and ability to step up in big moments. Whether it is making a clutch play, diving for loose balls, defending bigger opponents, or bringing energy when the team needs it most, Charles always leaves everything on the floor. His versatility allows him to comfortably play nearly every position on the court, making him one of the most complete and reliable players to come through our system.

His journey is a reminder that trusting the process always pays off.The future is bright, and we are proud to see one of our own continue to rise.🏀🔥

Graduating from our Under 19 setup to the upper category under the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) is Timothy, famously known as “Mamba.” A player known for lethal shooting, unmatched confidence, and a fearless “die a little” mentality every time he steps on the court. No matter the size, strength, or challenge in front of him, Mamba accepts every defensive assignment with heart and toughness.
Timothy is not just another player graduating through the system, he is one of the true roots of the academy. From wearing our colors since Under 10 to now stepping into the senior basketball stage, he represents what Buffalo Youth Basketball Academy stands for: loyalty, discipline, growth, sacrifice, and trust in the process.
Season after season, he continued to sharpen his game, earning respect through hard work, commitment, and consistency. His journey is proof that development takes patience and that greatness is built over time.

Graduating from our Under 19 setup to the upper category under the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) is Vincent, also known as Vinbelt. Known for his intensity on the court and being the charger of energy for the team and top elit guards in our squad, Vinbelt has truly earned his place among the academy’s success stories.
One of the original sons rooted in our academy values and norms, he has proudly donned our colors from Under 10 all the way to Under 19, showing loyalty, growth, discipline, and commitment throughout the journey.
Beyond basketball, Vincent continues to prove that student-athletes can succeed both on and off the court as he pursues System Engineering at Information and Communication University.
His journey is a true definition of trusting the process, staying grounded in the culture, and representing the Buffalo spirit at every level.

From player to coach, from student of the game to leader of the next generation..... today we celebrate Stephen Mwaya, commonly known as Popo and skipper by his teammates.... as he officially graduates from our Under 19 setup into full-time coaching while stepping into the upper basketball categories under the Zambia Basketball Federation.
Popo is deeply rooted in the identity of Buffalo Youth Basketball Academy. Joining the academy as an Under 10 player, he has grown through every stage with unmatched playmaking skill, loyalty, discipline, humility, and passion for the game. His journey is a true example of trusting the process and embracing development both on and off the court.
Over the years, he has served not only as a player but also as a coach-player for our Under 19 squad and captain in all the categories he represented our academy while actively mentoring and coaching our Under 10 and Under 16 teams. Today, he cements his place as one of the academy’s trusted coaches and role models for the younger generation.
His story is more than basketball, it is a testament to commitment, character, and unmatched talent. From being a young boy in our academy to becoming a leader shaping future stars, Popo represents everything Buffalo Youth Basketball Academy stands for.

For the past three seasons, Maybin, commonly known as “Kante,” has shown unmatched effort, sacrifice, and dedication in mentoring, developing, and coaching our Under 13 and Girls teams. His passion for the game and commitment to shaping young athletes into disciplined, confident, and responsible individuals has left a lasting impact on the academy.
Today, we proudly celebrate Kante as he graduates from our Under 19 setup to compete in the upper category under the Zambia Basketball Federation. At the same time, he steps into a greater leadership role as the full Youth Basketball League coach for our Under 13 and Girls teams.
From player to mentor, Kante’s journey represents growth, loyalty, leadership, and belief in the process. His influence continues to inspire the next generation both on and off the court.
