And the champions have been crowned .Huge congratulations to the winners of IG’s Marathon! You ran hard, you ran smart, and you left it all on the streets of Lusaka.Your speed, grit, and determination earned you more than just bragging rights — you walked away with cash prizes worth K50,000! sponsored by Finance Zambia Limited.
Commissioner of Police – Operations, Mr. Edwin Kaluba, who chairs the organizing committee, presented prizes to 18 runners who competed across various categories of the half marathon.

I am in Lusaka for work. But when the IG’s Run 2026 is on, you do not sit in your room. You lace up and you go.

21.1 kilometres this morning. Pace of 6:18. The legs delivered. The lungs cooperated. And the spirit, as always, was willing.

There is something about running that resets everything. The mind clears. The body wakes up. The noise of meetings and reports and diplomatic cables falls away, and for a few kilometres it is just you and the road and the rhythm of your own breathing. I came out of that run feeling genuinely energised and ready for whatever the week holds.

The ceremonial part of the run was presided over by Permanent Secretary Mr. Dickson Matembo and Inspector General of Police Mr. Graphael Musamba. To the Police Command, I say well done. This initiative is exactly the kind of leadership our institutions need. Sport builds discipline. It builds community. It builds a healthier and more cohesive nation.

I hope the next IG’s Run is even bigger, even better organised, and draws even more Zambians to the streets.

Never say no to stamina.
