Gratitude to you All for Hosting a Successful 26th ICR -2026

Zambia Athletics has successfully hosted the 26th Intercompany Relay ICR, bringing together companies and institutions on one powerful platform of fitness, teamwork, networking, unity, and corporate wellness through athletics.

This was more than just a sporting event , it was a true celebration of togetherness, partnership, and the growing spirit of athletics in Zambia. The overwhelming participation and support from the corporate world clearly demonstrated that sport has the power to unite institutions, strengthen relationships, and promote healthy living within our communities and workplaces.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Permanent Secretary Mr Kangwa Chileshe from the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts for gracing the event and supporting this important initiative. We also sincerely thank the National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ), our esteemed sponsors and partners, corporate institutions, participating companies, runners, and all stakeholders who came through to support the event. To our sponsors and partners, too many to mention individually ,we deeply appreciate your support, as everyone played a critical role in ensuring the success of the event.

Special appreciation goes to the Father of Athletics and founder of the Intercompany Relay, Mr Elias Mpondela, for coming through and continuing to support the growth of this great initiative. We remain grateful for the foundation and vision behind the Intercompany Relay, which continues to inspire the corporate world and the athletics fraternity alike.

We also wish to thank the Lusaka Province Athletics Area Board, the Zambia Athletics Executive, technical officials, volunteers, the media, and special thanks to the Zambia Athletics Secretariat team for the professionalism, dedication, teamwork, and commitment exhibited throughout the event. Your hard work ensured the successful organization and smooth delivery of the competition.

Imagine an event bringing together companies in one place competing, interacting, networking, and building friendships through sport. This is a clear sign that the Intercompany Relay is growing into one of the most important corporate sporting events in the country.

Many thanks to everyone who showed up and supported the event. To those who did not manage to attend, we are still together, and we remain one athletics family. Most definitely, we have many more events ahead that we shall continue to push, support, and attend together as we grow athletics and strengthen partnerships through sport.

As Zambia Athletics, we believe this is only the beginning. We are determined to continue improving and expanding the event year after year so that it becomes one of the biggest and most prestigious corporate athletics events in Zambia and the region.

Together, we can do more.
Together, we can grow athletics.
Together, we can build a healthier and more united Zambia through sport.

Major Bernard Bwalya
President

ZA OFFICIALS LEAVE FOR SOUTH AFRICA SAFEGUARDING TRAINING

Zambia Athletics wishes to inform the nation and athletics stakeholders that Ms Maureen Kolomwe and Mr Ernest Musonda left Zambia today for Cape Town, South Africa, where they will attend the Safe Sport International Conference scheduled from 24th to 28th May 2026.

The conference has brought together delegates from different countries to discuss matters relating to safeguarding, welfare, child protection, and the promotion of safe sporting environments.

The two officials were appointed as Zambia Athletics National Safeguarding Officers when Zambia Athletics President Major Bernard Bwalya assumed office. The appointments were made as part of strategic efforts aimed at strengthening safeguarding structures and promoting safe environments within athletics and communities. The appointments were later ratified by the Zambia Athletics Council.

The two officials are expected to gain valuable knowledge and exposure in areas such as:
β€’ Safeguarding and welfare.
β€’ Child protection in sport and communities.
β€’ Safe sport policies and practices.
β€’ Prevention of abuse and harassment.
β€’ Creating safe and inclusive environments for everyone.

Speaking on the development, Zambia Athletics President Major Bernard Bwalya said the federation remains committed to promoting safeguarding awareness and creating safe environments within sport and society.

β€œSafeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. It is about protecting children, athletes, officials, volunteers, and all participants within our sporting environments and communities. As Zambia Athletics, we believe that safe environments help people grow, perform, and contribute positively to society. The participation of our officials in this important international conference will help strengthen our safeguarding systems and promote best practices in Zambia,” said Major Bwalya.

He further stated that Zambia Athletics will continue investing in education and capacity building for officials in order to align the federation with international standards and modern sporting governance.
