IN PEACE, DR. JOSEPH KATEMA
It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of Dr. Joseph Katema, a distinguished medical doctor, statesman, diplomat, and devoted public servant whose life was dedicated to serving the people of Zambia.
Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Katema served the Republic of Zambia with honour in several key leadership positions, including:
- Member of Parliament for Chingola Central (formerly Chingola Constituency).
- Minister of Community Development, Mother and Child Health.
- Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services.
- Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs.
- Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to Italy, with accreditation to several European countries.
As a medical doctor, he championed improvements in healthcare and maternal and child welfare. As a Cabinet Minister, he contributed to national development, public communication, and the strengthening of traditional leadership. As Ambassador, he represented Zambia with dignity, promoting diplomacy, trade, and international cooperation.
Dr. Joseph Katema's dedication, wisdom, and selfless service touched countless lives. His legacy of patriotism, leadership, and commitment to national development will continue to inspire future generations.
Zambia has lost a true son of the soil, an outstanding leader, and a hero to many.
May the Almighty God grant him eternal rest, comfort his family, friends, the Catholic Christian community and the people of Zambia during this difficult time.
Rest in eternal peace, Dr. Joseph Katema. Your legacy will never be forgotten.
