We are deep into the season now, and the pressure is mounting. As you can see from the latest official league standings update , the leaderboard is looking incredibly tight:

The New Leader: Johan Lourens has broken the deadlock and taken sole possession of 1st place with 64 points! He is putting on an absolute masterclass this season, remaining completely undefeated at 16-0 with a massive 51.3 three-dart average. 🏎️💨

While the top of the table fights for the crown, the rest of the field is putting on a clinical display of darts! Week 9 is here, and it’s time to shine a light on the players making massive moves and keeping the pressure on the leaders.

🔥 Watch Out for the Mid-Table Surge
The standings are shifting, and these players are proving that any given Thursday is anyone's game:

Marinus Pieterse & Eric Vincent: Locked in a dead heat for 5th place with 36 points each! Marinus has been grinding out the legs, while Eric’s scoring consistency (17 scores of 100+) keeps him a constant threat.

Henrico Klopper: Sitting comfortably in 7th with 33 points, Henrico has one of the most reliable checkout rates in the league at 13%.

🎯 HODA DARTS: A SEASON OF PASSION, PROGRESS, AND REMEMBRANCE 🎯

As we take a short break for the school holidays, we wanted to look back at how far our players have come and share some important news with our HODA family.

📈 The Journey So Far: Week 1 vs. Week 5
It’s been an incredible start to the season! Seeing the growth from our opening night to where we stand now is a testament to the dedication of our players:

Top Flight Dominance: In Week 1, the race was wide open. By the end of Week 5, Hein Hanekom has surged to the top with 34 points, followed closely by Remiko de Ruyck and Gareth Cilliers.

Clinical Precision: Johan Lourens has set a massive standard, maintaining a perfect win record (7-0) and a league-leading 53.3 average!

The Maximum Club: We started with zero, but now Gareth Cilliers and Chris Fouche have both pinned those elusive 180s, with Chris still holding the high-checkout crown of 130!

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Jaco Meiring
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of one of our own. On Saturday, 21 March, we lost a dear friend and a valued member of the HODA community, Jaco Meiring.

Jaco wasn't just a face at the oche; he was a friend to many and a true darts enthusiast. His presence at Hooked on Boer en Bistro brought a warmth and spirit to our league that will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

Jaco, you will always have a place in our hearts and a seat at our league. We play the rest of this season in your honor. Rest in peace, friend. 🕯️🎯
