Why staying active is important

As we spend more time at home to stop the spread of COVID-19, it’s easy to forget our daily activity routine.

Many of our usual venues have closed or limited, and we’re no longer getting incidental exercise from commuting or running errands.

But it’s especially important to stay active during this time. Regular exercise is good for both our physical and mental health.It has many benefits, including:

reducing the risk of health conditions like stroke and heart disease etc

controlling weight

reducing stress and anxiety

improving sleep

BOSU BIRD DOG

The bird dog pose is excellent to tone your shoulders and glutes while focusing on your core muscles. To do it on a bosu ball:

Place the bosu ball in front of you with the flat side against the floor.
Place your hands and knees on the ball.
Then, extend your left arm and your right leg at the same time.
Return to your original position and do the same movement with the opposite arm and leg.
Complete up to 12 repetitions for each side or do an isometric hold starting with 20-30secs on each side

The banded face pull is one of the most effective tools for building a functional upper back to support the dynamics of the shoulder. Using only a band with hands placed in a pronated position, driving your elbows back and the band to your face against accommodating resistance, has some major benefits that make it my variation.

Many athletes don’t have access to cable machines or general gym machines, so using a common tool like the band is practical.

Deadlift Benefits

Head should be in a neutral position in the upward and downward phase of the Deadlift🙄.

Compared to other exercises that tax as many muscles as the deadlift, the deadlift lets you lift a lot of weight. You’ll get stronger in a hip hinge position but also make neurological strength adaptations that carry over to other compound movements such as the bench press and barbell squats

Build a Stronger, Less Injury-Prone Back

Having a strong lower back is important, especially as we age. Many people experience lower back pain due to a weak core, being overweight, and sitting behind a desk all day. Making deadlifts a part of your routine will help alleviate lower back pain and prevent it from developing in the future. Just be sure you keep your lower back straight throughout the movement. Rounding your lower back is a common cause of deadlift injuries and will increase your chances of injury.

With winter approaching I would be so grateful if you would be able to donate the following, food (cats or dogs) Blankets even toys for them to play with.
