FROM KATHU TO JESOLO… THE LION HEART IS READY! 🇿🇦🇮🇹

There are moments in a young athlete’s journey that remind you just how far determination can take you.

In May 2022, Sithe Magadlela began his kickboxing journey.

Four years later, that journey has taken him to the WAKO Youth World Kickboxing Championships in Jesolo, Italy, where he will once again step onto the international stage wearing the colours of South Africa. 🇿🇦

From South African competitions to international events in Belgium, Italy and Hungary, Sithe has continued to learn, grow, compete and represent with pride.

And now… Italy is calling again. 🇮🇹

The 2026 WAKO Youth World Championships has set a new record, with young kickboxers from 75 countries registered to compete.

75 countries.
One World Championship.
One incredible opportunity.

For Sithe, this is another chapter in a journey that started with a young boy stepping into a ring in 2022 — and has grown into a young athlete carrying the South African flag onto the world stage.

We know the road to this point has required countless hours of training, discipline, sacrifices, victories, setbacks and the courage to keep going.

Now it is time to step forward once again.

PHOENIX WARRIORS TAKE ON THE TINY TITANS!

This weekend, Phoenix Warriors Kathu Kickboxing Club had the honor of being represented by two of our young Warriors at the Tiny Titans & Youth Kickboxing Tournament in Brakpan.

It was an incredible weekend of competition, courage, learning and sportsmanship — and our Warriors certainly left their mark! 🦅🔥

🥊 LIAM PIETERSE
Liam once again stepped onto the mats ready to test himself against strong competition, and came home with:
🥇 1st Place – Continuous Fighting
🥈 2nd Place – Points Fighting
🥉 3rd Place – Kick Light
Three disciplines. Three podium finishes. And another valuable experience added to his journey. 💪🔥

🥊 ONALERONA MORAKE
Our Warrior Onalerona Morake also gave it everything and proudly brought home:
🥇 1st Place – Continuous Fighting
🥈 2nd Place – Points Fighting
🥈 2nd Place – Kick Light
A fantastic performance and a well-deserved collection of medals! 🏆🔥

🙏 GRATITUDE
It was an honor and privilege to take part in the Tiny Titans competition in Brakpan. Events like these give our young fighters the opportunity not only to compete, but to grow, gain experience, build confidence and learn from every opponent and every fight.

A heartfelt thank you to their coach, Jacques Kuhn, for his guidance, dedication and commitment to our Warriors. Your role in their development reaches far beyond the mats. 🥊👏

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Kathu Kalahari Country Club for their continued support. We are proud to call their facilities home and appreciate the opportunity to operate and train from their premises. Your support contributes to giving our young athletes a place where they can train, grow and chase their dreams.

🥊🔥 PHOENIX WARRIORS — MAKING OUR MARK AT THE VAAL TOYOTA KICKBOXING CUP IV 🔥🥊

What an incredible event! 🇿🇦

The Vaal Toyota Kickboxing Cup IV brought together fighters from 7 of South Africa’s 9 provinces, with 60+ fights across the pre-prelims, prelims and main card — a massive celebration of kickboxing talent from across the country.

And proudly representing Phoenix Warriors Kathu were our four fighters:

🦅 Liam Pieterse — “The Eagle” - 2nd place
🦁 L.J. de Villiers — “White Lion” - 2nd place
🔥 Sithe Magadlela - "Lion Heart" - 1st place and 2nd place
⚡ Liya Magadlela - "Sharpshooter " - 2nd place

To stand among fighters from across South Africa, to step through those ropes and represent our club, our town and our province is something to be proud of. ❤️💙

🥊 Phoenix Warriors shine at the Mooirivier Kickboxing Challenge

Phoenix Warriors Kickboxing Club from Kathu, under the leadership of Shone Pieterse, participated in the Mooirivier Kickboxing Challenge held in Potchefstroom this past weekend.

Two of the club’s ring fighters delivered outstanding performances.

Nineteen-year-old Leonardo de Take competed in the U/72 kg Kick Light division and secured second place.

Seventeen-year-old Handré Riggien competed in the U/64 kg Kick Light division and also earned a second-place finish.

Competing on the tatami mats was 12-year-old Liam Pieterse in the boys’ U/37 kg division. Liam participated in three different disciplines and dominated the competition by claiming first place in all three categories:
• Points Fighting – 1st place
• Light Contact – 1st place
• Kick Light – 1st place

The Phoenix Warriors team is incredibly proud of their fighters for their hard work, dedication and excellent achievements at the tournament.

We are proud of our fighters for their commitment and the way they represented the club.

Geen woorde kan die pyn van so 'n verlies wegneem nie, maar ons wil hê julle moet weet dat julle nie alleen staan nie.

Mag julle troos vind in die herinneringe wat julle koester, die liefde wat julle omring en die ondersteuning van die gemeenskap.
