There has been above average rain fall this summer in Southern Africa. With the thick bush conditions resulting in at times limited forward visibility and making the hunt and stalk quite challenging.

The Golden Wildebeest is a striking and relatively recent natural color variant of the common blue wildebeest. The golden color mutation was first noticed in the early 1900s in the northern Limpopo region of South Africa near the Botswana border. Local inhabitants occasionally reported unusually light-colored wildebeest among normal herds. The golden coat is caused by a recessive gene that affects pigment deposition. When two carriers breed, there’s a 25% chance of producing a golden offspring.
