Chelsea co-sporting director Lawrence Stewart on selling academy players to meet PSR:
๐ฃ๏ธ โThe reality is that if it was that, there are other players and more players who we could have sold as well. Like Paul said, thereโs been interest in other players that weโve turned down.
Every decision has been a performance-based decision, which people have opinions on because thatโs football. And, absolutely, with homegrown players itโs always more emotional.โ

Asked if Palmer can one day be crowned the best player in the world, Winstanley says:
โNo doubt he can. Heโs got a bit of maverick personality on the pitch, you can see that. You can see it in training, you can see it in the games. Heโs got that ability.โ

Lawrence Stewart admits that Chelsea did not believe City would agree to sell Palmer last summer:
๐ฃ๏ธ โWe didnโt think necessarily that weโd be able to get him here really, did we? There was a feeling that โno, Cole Palmer wonโt be for saleโ.
Weโd been speaking about him throughout that window and then as it came towards the latter stage of the window, we felt like we wanted to do something else and do something around that area of the pitch.
He came up again and we all said โletโs go for it, letโs see whatโs possibleโ. And then there seemed to be a little bit of feedback that there could be something there.โ

๐ฃ๏ธ Paul Winstanley: "To be fair to Cole [Palmer], he showed great desire to come here and thatโs the sort of player we want, the personality and the desire to come here."
