Well fought, Ethan! 👏

🎾 WINNING DOESN’T AUTOMATICALLY BUILD CONFIDENCE.

Because the result still has to pass through the story you tell yourself about it.

You win:

“They played badly.”

You beat a stronger player:

“I was lucky.”

You have a great tournament:

“It was just one good week.”

Your tennis may be improving while your competitive identity remains stuck months or years behind it.

🎾 NERVES AREN’T THE PROBLEM. PLAYING THE NEXT POINT WHILE YOUR MIND IS STILL IN THE LAST ONE IS. 🧠🔥

When pressure builds, your body often reacts before you realize it.

Your breathing gets faster.
Your muscles tighten.
Your thoughts speed up.
And suddenly, playing one simple point feels much more complicated.

That’s when a reset can help.

Try this between points:

🫁 **Inhale for 4 seconds**
⏸️ **Hold for 4**
💨 **Exhale for 4**
⏸️ **Hold for 4**

Repeat if you have time, then bring your attention back to **one simple cue for the next point.**

But there’s another important step after the match.

Don’t just say: *“I got nervous.”*

Ask yourself:

**What actually changed in my tennis when I became nervous?**

Did your feet slow down?
Did your arm tighten?
Did you become passive?
Did you rush decisions?

Aftermatch helps you recognize those pressure patterns so you can understand your response and prepare a better one for next time.

**Control the breath. Understand the pattern. Improve the response. 🎾🧠**

🎾 DON’T TRAIN THE WRIST LAG. TRAIN WHAT CREATES IT.

If the body turns well, spacing is good, the arm stays relatively free, and the racket has room to accelerate, lag can appear naturally.

If you try to “hold the wrist back,” you may create the position while destroying the movement.

For my players, the better question is:

What starts the forward swing — the body, or the hand?

Only 6 one-handed backhands left in the world’s top 100 🎾

A rare sight in today’s game — but when it’s timed right, it’s still one of the cleanest shots in tennis.

Is it becoming extinct… or just evolving? 👀

🎾 YOUR BEST TENNIS CAN BECOME YOUR WORST OPPONENT.

You play one incredible tournament.

And suddenly you expect that level to become your new minimum.

But improvement doesn’t work like that.

A new level appears.

Then disappears.

Then returns more often.

Then becomes stable.

Then survives pressure.

Touching a level once doesn’t mean you own it yet.

🎾 AT MATCH POINT, YOU HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN HOW TO PLAY TENNIS.

But suddenly the priority changes.

Instead of “play the point,” it becomes:

“Don’t miss.”

You move backward.

The arm slows down.

You search for safety.

The real problem isn’t how much fear you feel.

It’s how much that fear changes the tennis you had decided to play.
