π± AGILE SPORTS REPRESENTED AT THE 2026 SA NATIONAL 8-BALL CHAMPIONSHIPS πΏπ¦
It was a memorable week at the 2026 SA National 8-Ball Championships, with two members of the Agile Sports family β Johann Fourie and ZoΓ© van Vuuren β making their mark both on and off the table.
Johann attended the Nationals as manager of the Western Gauteng Bomb Squad, who produced an outstanding run in the A Division.
The team won their first 13 matches and, after 21 sessions, had led the competition for an incredible 20 of those 21 sessions. Their first defeat came against eventual champions iKapa 2.
A demanding week and a difficult finish against strong opposition eventually saw the Bomb Squad finish 5th in the A Division β Western Gauteng's best-ever finish in the division.
Captain Xander van Tonder showed maturity beyond his experience, leading his team from the front, while standout player Moketsi was rewarded for an excellent tournament by being selected as the No. 2 reserve for the South African team. πΏπ¦π
π AGILE SPORTS' ZOΓ VAN VUUREN β REFEREE OF THE TOURNAMENT!
One of the proudest moments of the week for Agile Sports came when ZoΓ© van Vuuren was named Referee of the Tournament. π
With an extremely demanding schedule and long hours spent on her feet, ZoΓ©'s commitment and professionalism were recognised with this fantastic achievement.
From everyone at Agile Sports β congratulations, ZoΓ©! We are incredibly proud to have you as part of our team.
π± JOHANN FOURIE β BACK COMPETING ON THE NATIONAL STAGE
For Agile Sports' Johann Fourie, the week was also a significant personal achievement.
Alongside his role as Bomb Squad manager, Johann reached the final of the Managers Competition, narrowly missing out on the title after a long and physically demanding week.
After entering the Singles competition as a late entry, he also reached the Top 64, where he faced South Africa's No. 6-ranked player, Altaaf Shaik.
The match was locked at 3β3 before a mistake gave Altaaf the opportunity to take control, eventually winning 6β3. Congratulations to Altaaf, who went on to earn selection for the South African team. πΏπ¦
For Johann, however, the achievement went far beyond results.
Returning to compete at a major national tournament following his stroke, while simultaneously managing a team through a gruelling week-long schedule, made simply being there and competing again something special.
From a 5th-place A Division finish, to a Managers Competition finalist, a Top 64 Singles appearance, and most importantly, ZoΓ© van Vuuren being crowned Referee of the Tournament, it was certainly a Nationals to remember for the Agile Sports family.
At Agile Sports, we don't just cover sport.
We live it. We compete in it. We support it.
Congratulations to Johann, ZoΓ© and the entire Western Gauteng Bomb Squad on a week to be proud of. ππ±πΏπ¦
