🥈 TOP SCHOOLS SILVER!

A fantastic weekend for our Bishops U13A boys, who battled their way through to the Top Schools final and came away with a well-deserved silver medal.

Reaching a final at this level is a huge achievement, but for Bishops to do it for four years in a row is something really special.

4 years. 4 finals. 💙

An incredible record and a testament to the players, teachers, coaches and everyone involved in Bishops hockey.

We're incredibly proud of the boys and the way they represented Bishops throughout the tournament.

What a moment for our U13A boys! 💙

They've powered their way into the Top Schools Final and now face Rondebosch tomorrow at 12h40 in a BishBosch clash of epic proportions.

🏆 DAY/NIGHT TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS! 🏆

What a night for the Bishops U12s! 💙

Under the lights, surrounded by some fantastic schools and an incredible atmosphere, the boys battled their way to the Day/Night Tournament trophy, finishing it off with a tense 1–0 victory in the final!

A special touch to the evening was having Kenton Melville, fresh from the World Cup, presenting the medals and trophy to the boys. 🏑🏅

But this one meant a little more. The team proudly wore their Cassa bands throughout the tournament and dedicated their victory to him. 💙

And there’s something particularly special about history repeating itself - Cassa’s team lifted this very same trophy last year. This year’s U12s made sure it stayed with Bishops. 🏆

A wonderful tournament, brilliant hockey and a night these boys won’t forget.

Join the Bishops Hockey coaches and 1st XI for a masterclass hockey session, enjoy a boerie roll afterwards, and then stick around to watch the Bishops 1st XI take on the Bishops Old Boys.

🏑 Bishops U12 Day/Night Hockey Tournament - tomorrow!

It's set to be a great afternoon and evening of hockey, with both Bishops and Bishops Invitational in action on the Bishops Astro from 15:00.

Swipe through for the full Bishops boys schedule, including the cross-pool play-offs and finals under lights. The boys' play-offs begin at 17:00, with the final scheduled for 19:06–19:21 and prize giving at 19:40.

A big weekend of primary school hockey is coming up at Somerset College, with some of the top boys' and girls' teams in the province going head-to-head.

Bishops have been drawn in Boys Pool A, alongside Eversdal, Rondebosch Boys, De Hoop and Wynberg Boys.

A fantastic milestone for two of our 1st XI players! 💙🏑

Congratulations to Robbie Vintcent and Troy Stockdale, who have both reached 50 caps for the Bishops 1st XI.

Fifty appearances at this level is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of the commitment, consistency and hard work both boys have put into Bishops hockey.

Well done, Robbie and Troy - an achievement to be very proud of! 👏

A special moment as the next chapter of Bishops Hockey gets underway. 🏑💙

With construction of the new astro now beginning, Father Monwabisi Peter marked the occasion with a blessing before Mr Warren Wallace, Head of Sport, officially broke ground.

Also there to mark the milestone were Luc Dicey (VC), Cameron Macbeth (VC), Harry Morgan (C) and Ryan Julius, Head Coach of Bishops Hockey.

A significant step forward for hockey at Bishops - and the start of something that will benefit generations of players to come.

Exciting times ahead. 💙🏑

Ryan Julius OLY's August Hockey Update is in, and it's a fitting way to wrap up a season of real progress across the Bishops hockey programme.

From the 1st XI claiming the Triple Crown with wins over Wynberg, SACS and Rondebosch, to Callum Anderson captaining the SA U17 side to victory in Zimbabwe, there has been plenty to celebrate. Bishops also finished 2nd overall among the A teams in the league, with the U14A, U16A and 1st XI all finishing second.

As Ryan puts it: the goal was simply to be 1% better than last season, and the programme has achieved exactly that.
