On 16 June, Kayo Stars Football Club was invited by Ikageng Foundation and proudly participated in the Pride Wellness & Advocacy Safe Space Event held at Skoti Park in Ikageng. The event brought together FEW, Gender Links, Queerwell & Kayo Stars in a meaningful initiative focused on wellness, advocacy, inclusion, and positive engagement as South Africa commemorated Youth Day.
The programme created a safe and welcoming environment where the players were encouraged to connect, share experiences, and engage in important conversations that affect young people and the broader community.
One of the key highlights of the event was the Wellness Check-In: Mind & Body, which provided a supportive space for individuals to be heard, express themselves, and discuss matters affecting their mental and physical well-being. This session emphasized the importance of self-care, emotional support, and creating healthy environment.
The Advocacy Street Talk served as a powerful platform where participants/Players were encouraged to speak up, stand up, and be heard. Through open discussions and team dialogue, the team shared their views on social issues, personal experiences, and the importance of promoting equality, respect, and understanding within society.
Another significant part of the programme was "RE UTLWENG, RE BONENG, RE TENG", a theme that celebrates visibility, belonging, and unity. The session provided a space for the team to connect, celebrate diversity, and strengthen team bonds while embracing the values of acceptance and mutual respect.
Kayo Stars Football Club was honoured to be part of this impactful event and contributed positively throughout the day. The team's participation demonstrated its commitment not only to football development but also to community engagement, youth empowerment, and social responsibility.
