SJC Royals faced the Rebels in the Highveld 40 Promotion League on Saturday, 18 January.

Opting to bat first, SJC Royals set a challenging total of 213/6 in 40 overs, despite the tricky overcast conditions.

The innings was anchored by a superb 102-run partnership between Marnus Raath
(54 off 91 balls) and JP Lotz (60 off 80 balls).

Hannes Hatting (22 off 27 balls) and Johan Coetzer (26 off 23 balls) also made valuable contributions with the bat.

The Royals’ bowlers were exceptional, with Johan Coetzer leading the charge, claiming 6 wickets for just 17 runs. Marnus Raath supported brilliantly, taking 2 wickets for 19 runs.

The Rebels were bowled out for a mere 49 runs in just 12.4 overs, handing SJC Royals a dominant 164-run victory.

Johan Coetzer was named Player of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance.

The cricket match against MOB on January 11th has been called off due to rainy weather. The next game is scheduled for January 18th, where we'll be playing against Rebels in Middelburg.

On Sunday, the SJC Royals faced off against Middelburg Old Boys in an all-Middelburg cricket final.

MOB won the toss and opted to bat first, getting off to a strong start. However, the SJC Royals fought back with brilliant fielding, managing to restrict MOB to 139 runs. Coenraad Oosthuizen, Janco Wandrag, and Kepler Prinsloo each took two wickets.

SJC’s innings began solidly, but unfortunately, regular wickets fell, and the team finished with 96 runs after 20 overs. MOB emerged victorious by 43 runs, with Janco top-scoring on 28 runs.

Congratulations to MOB on their well-deserved victory. Thank you for a thrilling final, exceptional sportsmanship, and, of course, the beers after the game!

To all the SJC Royals players, thank you for your unwavering commitment to the club. This season was full of fun, and we’ve made many new friends along the way. You guys are legends.
