Let's not forget! How privileged are we?!
Deep appreciation for all the women who paved the way for something we now assume is the norm.
Today is the 127th but did you know women weren't always allowed to run? In 1967, Kathrine Switzer made history as the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon. Kathrine used her initials to register for the marathon instead of using her full name.
During the race, an official tried to physically remove her (as seen in the photo) but she persevered and finished the race!
Kathrine was also involved with the fight to get the women’s marathon included in the Olympics, which ultimately happened in 1984.
Kathrine was and continues to be a true pioneer for women's sports.💪
