They're the eyes and ears of the bushveld. Their keen eyes are usually the first to pick out a stalking predator — and when they sound the alarm, every other animal in the area pays attention. The impala is known for its high alert status and ability to scatter and leap when alarmed — which makes a clean stalk on a good ram harder than most people expect before they try it.
