My younger players often struggle to work around the attacker's body when defending.
Using a hurdle helps them get into the correct defensive body position and encourages them to move their feet around the player rather than reaching or leaning.
In this video, the players are jumping slightly and are a little too far away from the attacker's body. The key coaching points are:
• Stay close to the attacker.
• Keep your feet on the ground — don't jump.
• Move around the body with quick footwork.
• Keep your eyes up 🙂
The goal is to maintain a strong defensive stance while staying connected to the attacker and ready to contest the next pass.
