Tips For Students To Stay Fit When Studying
As with countless activities of our lives this age, the life of a student is predominantly sedentary. This lack of movement can be likened to a stationary vehicle, which ultimately degenerates and malfunctions.
When studying, it has been said that you need to give your mind a break to process the sections you have studied every 45 minutes. Your bottom too needs a rest from sedentary torture
Break up your study schedule in hourly segments, and read/practice the material for 45 mins. For the remaining 15 mins, do the following while consciously revising the section you have been reading-- after all, your mind is a most powerful engine that CAN multitask given clear intention to success:
1. Get off your seat and take 10 deep lung filling breaths.
Breath as deeply, and as long, as you possibly can then COMPLETELY relax with each exhale.
Repeat 10x
2. Skip (no rope required), Sprint, and Jump Jack on the Spot
- Imagine you have a skipping rope and simulate the motions of skipping rope. Do 10x
- Sprint as fast as you can on the spot for 10 seconds. Do 10x
- Jump Jack on the spot as fast as you can in 10 seconds. Repeat 10x
3. Add Mountain Climbers. Pretend you are in a race, climbing a mountain as fast as you can. Stretch your arms to grab more mountain and raise you knees to hoist you further up. Do this as fast as you can in 10 seconds. Repeat 10x
4. Squat to Gain strength in your back and behind that suffer when we sit for too long. Pretend you are about to sit down on your chair, leading with your tailbone, and just before you butt touches the seagull yourself upright by pushing your feet into the earth and using your core to pull up your spine.
Do
- 10 seconds as fast as you can
- 10 seconds at medium speed
- 10 seconds as slooowly as you can. Hint: Engage core and gluts
Repeat all of the above 10x
5. End off with a Simple Stretch Sesh.
Look online for stretching guides or just allow yourself to be creative, your mind and body know what to do specific to your unique form
6. Seal it with the Kiss of Life.
Breathe deeply and quietly meditate: listen to your heartbeat, and allow yourself to enjoy the adrenaline as you recap what you read in preceding 45 mins.
