*Diving suspended due to Corona*
Good evening everybody.
It's really been a crazy week, with surreal experiences, not to mentioned arriving to empty shelves at shops and all the nonsense people post on social media. Jacques and I spoke over the last few days about the Coronavirus and it's implications.

*After careful consideration, we are in agreement that we are going to suspend all diving and in person training for the time being*
*We will continue to assess the situation, and let you know as soon as diving will start again.*

This is not a decision taken lightly, as it will have significant financial impact on us, especially over Easter, but we simply can't see the risk being worth the short term reward. We do NOT want to be part of the reason people get sick or even die. Some operators say they have measures in place, but realistically, there is simply no way they can guarantee that divers will not get infected during their operations.

As mentioned previously, we did schedule some repairs and upgrades on the boat and trailer and Jacques will be taking lead on this, ensuring that we are ready for action when we have the all clear.

I do have friends in various countries, including Italy and China that are directly affected by this virus. They all agree. Do NOT underestimate this virus. If you are still doing things like hanging out with friends, greeting people with the hand, going to church or club meetings, going to restaurants etc. I urge you to stop, think about it, and make sure you apply the needed changes to not only safeguard you and your own family, but also to stop corona from spreading to anybody else.

As divers we are taught that personal safety is paramount, and we have systems in place to help us mitigate the inherent risks of diving. We don't go around taking chances with our diving. Neither should we go around taking chances with coronavirus.

I hope you and your loved ones are all safe, and that we will see all of you strong and healthy on the other side of this. Thanks for your support and for doing what you love, so we can also do what we love.

Paul van Jaarsveld has a website. This is it. Will contain different things at different times, but probably something that's of interest to him.

Diving options in Jeffreys Bay. Good morning all. As you know or may not know, Jbay Ski Boat Club lost their premises and JBUC also as a result. Jacques from African Waters Scuba used to come through from Port Elizabeth with his 9m boat and compressor, but it was a very expensive endevour. He needs large numbers of divers to get critical mass and make any sort of profit. For smaller numbers, Paul van Jaarsveld now has a 4m RIB that can take 1 to 3 divers and kit out. There is also a local compressor option available. Give Paul a call at 083 521 5093 to discuss the options.
