It's hard to believe that just about a year ago, Chris and Christina gathered a handful of kids to simply have some fun playing Flag Football.
Late last year, Arnold and I joined them to help grow that small group. Then in October, things really started to take shape when Coach Simon and Coach Stephan from YAFFL came all the way down from Gauteng to Jeffreys Bay to host a training clinic for the kids. That weekend sparked something bigger than we could have imagined!
Since the clinic, Coach Sheldon came on board to assist with training and take the kids fitness to the next level. Coach Fabian from Switzerland has joined our group to assist with coaching and officiating. And now...full circle moment...we are the ones running training clinics.
This past Saturday, Coach Sheldon, Coach Arnold, Coach Chris, our QBs and I headed to PE to support Coach Mikey and his PE Blacktips Flag Football team.
In just ONE year, we've gone from nothing...to officially having 3 teams in the Eastern Cape - and we’re still growing!
As a team, and as fans of American Football and Flag Football, it's incredible to witness how the sport is growing - not just here in the Eastern Cape but across South Africa as a whole!
