Proudly training and breeding Champion Saddlebreds in the Harold Poil Stables tradition for 40 years All services are provided in house.

Nestled in the beautiful Magaliesburg valley this facility has been operating as an American Saddlebred Horse breeding, training, boarding and export facility over 40 years and is home to Harold Poil Stables and the Nite Legacy of Breeding Excellence. The facility was established by legendary horseman Harold Poil, protégé of the legendary Garland Bradshaw, and six time South African Trainer of the Year. The facility remains in the family and is now in the hands of Harold's only daughter Garland Poil. The facility accommodates 35 show horses and 15 junior horses for training on a full time basis and operates year round with an indoor arena. This facility was home to the late, great Enja Hell of a Nite, the South African General and Junior Sire of the Year several times over, whose offspring have dominated the show ring. Now standing at stud and proudly following in his fathers hoofprints is Bridgewaters Stake Nite who in his turn has won the South African General Sire Ranking several times. The broodmare ban hosts an impressive range of bloodlines and includes several Broodmare Hall of Fame mares. A full range of breeding services are offered in house. Offspring are raised on site in carefully selected social groupings with a guardian donkey to teach them the ropes. A teaser pony is used in the breeding program and has a 97% to 99% conception rate annually. Garland like Harold before her is a member of the Board of the National Horse Trust and the SA Saddlehorse Breed Society and the Norther Saddle Horse Sub Union. In addition Garland is a Level 3 CEEPSA Registered Saddle Seat Coach. The facility also offers on site accommodation and equine themed photoshoots.

“Once you understand the horse is not the problem, you will stop training the horse… and start training yourself.”

Some of the greatest lessons in horsemanship begin when we stop asking, “Why won't my horse do this?” and start asking, “What am I doing that my horse doesn't understand?”

A horse responds to what we give them — our hands, our timing, our balance, our energy, our patience and, above all, our consistency.

When something isn't working, the answer isn't always to apply more pressure or repeat the same correction. Sometimes the greatest progress comes from changing ourselves.

Better timing.
Softer hands.
Clearer communication.
More patience.
And the humility to admit when we need to try another way.

Some victories are special. And then there are those moments that simply take your breath away.

Sarah Edmunds & Bridgewaters Queen of the Nite — SANESA National Champions 2026! 🇿🇦🏆

Their very first Nationals together as a pair, and what a way to announce themselves.

Sarah rode with confidence, determination and beautiful composure, while Queen was every inch the professional—steady, generous and completely there for her rider when it mattered most. Together, they produced the kind of performance that reminds us exactly why we love this sport.

Watching Sarah and Queen rise to the occasion on the national stage was nothing short of awe-inspiring. To see a partnership come together like this, especially at their first Nationals, makes this championship so incredibly meaningful.

Sarah, we could not be prouder of you. You trusted your horse, you trusted everything you have been taught, and when your moment came, you rode for it. 💙

And Queen… what more can we say? Once again, Bridgewaters Queen of the Nite showed the extraordinary heart, intelligence and generosity that make these horses so very special. A true professional who knew she had a job to do and looked after her rider every step of the way. 👑🐴

Behind every blue ribbon is also a team.

🐴🌿 Foal Friday | Where a Legacy Learns to Grow 🌿🐴

Before the training, before the show ring, before the blue ribbons and the championships… there is this.

A foal beside its mother, learning about the world in the most natural way possible—one quiet moment, one confident step and perhaps even one mouthful of grass at a time. 🤎

At Bridgewaters Horse Park, we believe the foundations of a great horse are laid long before a saddle is ever placed on its back. Good breeding gives us potential, but time, freedom, security and thoughtful care allow that potential to flourish.

There is something particularly beautiful about watching a youngster mirror its mother. She teaches lessons we never could—where to go, when to relax, what to trust and simply how to be a horse.

And within The Nite Legacy, these peaceful paddock moments are every bit as important as the spectacular ones that may come later. Because when we breed for the future, we're not simply hoping to produce the next champion. We're raising intelligent, confident, willing horses with the character to become extraordinary partners.

🐴🤎 Wednesday Wisdom | Every Horse Deserves Someone Who Believes 🤎🐴

Some horses challenge our patience.

Some test our confidence.

Some ask more of us than we ever imagined possible.

But a truly great horseman doesn't walk away when the journey becomes difficult. Instead, they pause, listen, observe, and ask one simple question:

"What is this horse trying to tell me?"

Our founder, Harold Poil, believed that every horse had something worth discovering. He knew that beneath every challenge was a horse waiting to be understood, and that lasting success was never built on force—it was built on trust, patience, and unwavering belief.

🐴✨ Some Guests Visit… Others Become Part of the Nite Legacy ✨🐴

There is something very special about welcoming people to Bridgewaters Horse Park and introducing them to the horses who have written so much of our story.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Kokkies Rademan for a visit—and, of course, no visit to BHP would be complete without meeting one of the true legends behind The Nite Legacy: Bridgewaters Stake Nite. 🤎

Stake may officially qualify as a senior citizen these days, but apparently nobody has told him! 😂 Still full of personality, still curious, and always ready for a meet-and-greet, a little attention and, naturally, a bit of fun.

For us, these moments are incredibly special. The Nite Legacy isn't only about pedigrees, championships or generations of exceptional horses. It's about the people who meet them, love them, follow their stories and become part of the journey.

Stake Nite has given us so much—not only through his own achievements, but through the generations that carry his influence forward. Watching visitors meet him today and experience that unmistakable Nite personality reminds us just how precious a living legacy really is.

Thank you, Kokkies, for spending time with us and for sharing a little love with our grand old gentleman. We think it's safe to say he enjoyed the visit just as much as you did! 🤎🐴
