Bridgewaters Horse Park Proudly training and breeding Champion Saddlebreds in the Harold Poil Stables tradition for 40 years All services are provided in house.

Nestled in the beautiful Magaliesburg valley this facility has been operating as an American Saddlebred Horse breeding, training, boarding and export facility over 40 years and is home to Harold Poil Stables and the Nite Legacy of Breeding Excellence. The facility was established by legendary horseman Harold Poil, protégé of the legendary Garland Bradshaw, and six time South African Trainer of the

Year. The facility remains in the family and is now in the hands of Harold's only daughter Garland Poil. The facility accommodates 35 show horses and 15 junior horses for training on a full time basis and operates year round with an indoor arena. This facility was home to the late, great Enja Hell of a Nite, the South African General and Junior Sire of the Year several times over, whose offspring have dominated the show ring. Now standing at stud and proudly following in his fathers hoofprints is Bridgewaters Stake Nite who in his turn has won the South African General Sire Ranking several times. The broodmare ban hosts an impressive range of bloodlines and includes several Broodmare Hall of Fame mares. A full range of breeding services are offered in house. Offspring are raised on site in carefully selected social groupings with a guardian donkey to teach them the ropes. A teaser pony is used in the breeding program and has a 97% to 99% conception rate annually. Garland like Harold before her is a member of the Board of the National Horse Trust and the SA Saddlehorse Breed Society and the Norther Saddle Horse Sub Union. In addition Garland is a Level 3 CEEPSA Registered Saddle Seat Coach. The facility also offers on site accommodation and equine themed photoshoots.

Wednesday Wisdom | Bridgewaters Horse Park & The Nite Legacy

Someone once told me that the parts of me people call "too much" are exactly why horses love me.

💙 Blue Ribbon Monday 💙

Some victories are about far more than a blue ribbon.

At Nationals 2026, Sarah Harty Edmunds made an unforgettable debut under saddle with Bridgewaters Irresistable Nite ("Blondie"), and what a debut it was! Together they delivered a flawless performance, earning a well-deserved Blue Ribbon and creating a moment that neither rider nor trainer will soon forget.

What makes this achievement even more special is the journey behind it. When Sarah's regular partner, Bridgewaters Watch Me Tonite, sadly had to step down due to health concerns, Blondie stepped up. As horses so often do, she rose to the occasion when she was needed most, proving once again that the best partnerships are built on trust, heart, and a willingness to meet the moment.

To watch Sarah enter the ring with confidence, composure, and determination, and to see Blondie give her all, was a reminder that sometimes life's unexpected changes lead us exactly where we are meant to be.

Congratulations Sarah and Blondie on an exceptional debut and a Blue Ribbon performance. We couldn't be prouder of both of you. Here's to the beginning of what promises to be a very exciting partnership.

A huge thank you to Anina Bothma for producing the beautiful, chemical-free, dust-filtered shavings that line our stalls at Bridgewaters Horse Park.

While many people see the ribbons and results, few see the importance of what happens behind the scenes. Clean, dry, comfortable bedding is essential for healthy hooves, sound legs, respiratory health, and overall horse welfare. The quality of the environment our horses live in every day plays a significant role in their ability to thrive, train, and perform at their best.

Anina's commitment to producing a natural, high-quality product gives us peace of mind knowing our horses are standing, resting, and recovering on bedding that supports their health without unnecessary chemicals, excessive dust, or compromise.

There is something incredibly special about watching the next generation rise… and even more meaningful when legacy rides beside it.

This week, we celebrate brothers Bridgewaters Lite After Nite and Bridgewaters Here Comes the Nite, two extraordinary young stallions who captured the Junior Five Gaited Division, proudly winning the 4-Year-Old and 3-Year-Old classes respectively. 🌟

Adding even more meaning to these unforgettable wins was the partnership in the saddle — Mother and Daughter, Dejane Poil and Garland Poil, guiding these talented young stallions to victory with the horsemanship, dedication, and partnership that define generations at Bridgewaters Horse Park.

From promise to performance, these young stallions remind us that greatness is not built overnight — it is nurtured through patience, belief, and a legacy of horsemanship passed from one generation to the next.

This week, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ronel Beukes for supplying the humane braces that help us forturn our horses out in peak showring condiditon with both compassion and purpose.

At Bridgewaters Horse Park & The Nite Legacy, we believe horsemanship should continue to evolve — always striving for better ways to support the comfort, wellbeing, and long-term soundness and wellbeing of our horses.

Thanks to Ronel’s innovative and horse-first approach to tail turnout, our horses are able to enjoy turnout and freedom of movement while remaining spotless and flawlessly presented in the ring, allowing us to move away from restrictive, old-fashioned practices and toward solutions that place welfare first.

Because caring for great horses is not only about how they perform in the ring — it is about how they are cared for every single day and ensuring that they are happy and heathy while giving their all.

We are incredibly grateful to partner with people who share our belief that kindness, thoughtful management, and innovation can go hand in hand- and that the horses wellbeing must always come first.

💙 BLUE RIBBON MONDAY | BHP & The Nite Legacy 💙

Sometimes the most special moments are the ones you never planned for. Appropriately on this 1st of June we have a special first to celebrate!

At Nationals 2026, fate had other ideas when Gabby, the regular partner of Bridgewaters Queen of the Nite, was unfortunately injured — leaving a last-minute change none of us expected.

Stepping into the cart was Anne-Lé Badenhorst, in what would become a moment none of us will soon forget.

Because this wasn’t just a catch drive…

This was Anne-Lé’s very first time driving a harness horse at Bloem.

And what a way to begin.

With trust placed in her hands by an extraordinary mare,
with courage to step into the unknown,
and with the kind of partnership that reminds us why horses are so special.

Bridgewaters Queen of the Nite, true to her name, stepped up with grace — carrying her new partner with kindness, honesty, and heart.

Moments like these remind us that ribbons are wonderful…
but what stays with us forever are the stories behind them.

The moments of bravery.
The stepping up when it matters most.
The trust between horse and driver forged in an instant.

To Anne-Lé — thank you for saying yes to the unexpected.
To Queen — thank you for once again showing us the kind of horse you are.
