Who I am and what I do:
My name is Henri Swart, and I've been doing bodybuilding competitively since 2014. I've placed 2nd in the Arnold Classic, won the Provincials in 2017, and won an overall win at the Millennium Gold Plate 2019.

How APX Performance helps me:

"As an Average Joe, working 8 to 9 hours a day sitting, mainly behind a screen or in a Boardroom, I tend to carry all my tension in my traps, lower back, and forehead.

I am a 33-year-old exec-level manager with three boys and an insane lifestyle. Self-care is usually the very last item on an extended list of priorities. After years of bad posture, worse exercise routines, and even less time to focus on my bodyโ€™s health, I started going to APX to assist with a nerve pinch I sustained in my lower back.

Last but not least, here is the third stretch of our deskbound stretching series. ๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™€๏ธ

Side neck stretch:
โ€ขPlace one arm behind your back.
โ€ขTake the free hand and place it on the opposite side of your head.
โ€ขGently pull your head towards your shoulder.

For the back of your neck:
โ€ขAim your chin towards your armpit.
โ€ขGently pull your head in that direction.

For the front of your neck:
โ€ขLift your chin to the ceiling.
โ€ขPull your head angled to the back until you feel the stretch in the front.
โ€ขPull the arm behind your back down and away from the stretch to intensify it.

Hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds or until you feel a difference, and remember to repeat on the other side.

Here's our second stretch of our deskbound stretching series. The standing quad stretch:

โ€ขStanding close to a wall, countertop or chair back to assist with your balance.

โ€ขBend your left knee back and hold onto your ankle with your left hand.

โ€ขYou will feel a stretch in the front of your leg and possibly the front of your hip.

โ€ขPush your hip forward to intensify the stretch.

Hold position for at least 30 seconds and repeat on other side.

Desk bound for hours on end?๐Ÿ•–

You need to stretch it out! We will be sharing stretches and tips that will help you with muscle stiffness and the pain of sitting at a desk for too long.

Here is the first stretch of our deskbound stretching series. The doorway chest stretch:

โ€ขPlace your arms on either side of a doorway.

โ€ขStep forward until you feel a stretch in your chest and shoulders.

โ€ขTry placing your arms at different heights to feel where you need the stretch the most.

โ€ขDo this stretches multiple times during the day, and if done regularly, it will help prevent back and neck pains caused by prolonged sitting.

Hold the stretch for at least 30 seconds or until you feel a difference. Also, try to get up every hour and walk about for a bit to break the position you get stuck in for so long.
