We are honored to introduce the Chairman In Sun Seo Preservation of the Original Form Scholarship.

We are excited to announce this scholarship that will be awarded to K–College level students in Korea and around the world! Our first group of international students will be recognized at the 2026 Korea Trip/World Championships this June.

Chairman Seo, alongside HHA/WKF, is deeply committed to supporting our youth as they pursue both their martial arts journey and academic dreams.

Ever wondered what the name of our style actually means? 🤔🥋

You might think of Hapkido as a self-defense system only, but the name of our specific style—Um Yang Kwan—holds the secret to why it works so well.

"Um Yang" (☯️) is the Korean concept of Yin and Yang. It’s all about the perfect balance of opposing forces: light and dark, hard and soft, direct and circular.

"Kwan" (🏛️) means school or hall.

Put it together, and Um Yang Kwan Hapkido is the "School of Balanced Harmony."

In our classes, we don't just teach you how to meet force with force. We teach you how to be like water—fluid, adaptable, and capable of using an attacker's own energy and momentum against them. It’s a complete system of strikes, joint locks, and throws designed for practical self-defense, no matter your size or strength.
