Swim with Sunée Baby Swimming lessons and Learn-to-Swim lessons for all ages offered by experienced instructors in Eversdal, Cape Town. I am also a Tutor for the STA.

Sunée McKelvey Swimming Tuition has been a long time coming! I returned from the UK in 2011 and has since worked as a swimming instructor in various Virgin Active gyms and most recently I was the Head Teacher at Swimmable in Cape Town. I have always dreamed about opening my own Swim School and at last, here we are - 4 weeks to opening! I am a fully qualified STA Baby and Pre-School instructor. I h

ave a STA Award and Certificate in teaching swimming which allows to me to teach to competitive level. Teaching swimming is not only my job, but my passion. I treat all my swimmers with empathy and respect, from the most timid swimmers to the budding champions. I believe swimming should ALWAYS be fun and no-one should ever dread coming for their swimming lesson. I will be offering lessons in Eversdal, Durbanville in an enclosed, heated salt water pool. Lessons will be offered from Mondays to Saturdays, mornings until early evening - ALL YEAR! We are planning to open in mid April 2015, so contact me to secure your place.

Early swimming is about so much more than learning to be safe in the water. For toddlers, time in the pool supports whole-brain development. As they move, float, kick, and balance, both sides of the brain work together — building coordination, body awareness, sensory processing, and early problem-solving skills in a natural, playful way.

Water gently slows movement, giving little bodies and nervous systems time to learn new patterns with confidence. Many young swimmers develop smoother motor skills, better focus, and calmer body control through regular exposure to the water.

Safety is, of course, a powerful benefit too. Research shows that children introduced to swimming early, with proper supervision, may have a significantly reduced risk of drowning later in childhood. But beyond safety, swimming quietly supports emotional confidence, independence, and lifelong learning.

Parents don’t need perfection — just safe guidance, consistency, and fun water experiences. Every splash, kick, and float helps build strong foundations for the future.
