TEAM TRAINING BUILDS THE TEAM. SPECIALISED TRAINING BUILDS THE PLAYER.

Team training has a bigger picture — getting 23 players to understand their roles, execute the game plan and work together.

But that doesn’t always leave enough time to focus on the finer details of each individual player’s development.

That’s where specialised training comes in 💡

More attention on their technique, decision-making, skills, laws of the game and the little details that can make them more effective when they step back onto the field with their team.

And if only 6 out of 23 players are putting in that extra work?

You’re going to see the difference‼️

Not because they’re more talented — but because they’ve had more focused development.

“RAW TALENT” ISN’T ALWAYS RAW. 🏉

We often call a kid “naturally talented” because they can sidestep, pass, catch or read the game well.

But where did that ability come from?

Kids who grow up playing with rugby balls, watching rugby, playing with their parents and constantly being exposed to the game are already developing these skills long before structured training begins.

Exposure creates familiarity.
Repetition creates ability.
Investment creates development.

That’s the idea behind our FULL CHAMBER EXPERIENCE — giving young players the environment, exposure and coaching they need to develop.

THE FULL CHAMBER EXPERIENCE

This is a 90min program that takes place on Sunday afternoons from 15:00 till 16:30.

The first 30mins is called The Pressure Chamber - the purpose of this session is to develop and improve the Strength, Speed and Agility of our young athletes ensuring that they are prepared for all that’s expected of them on a rugby field.

Thereafter we transition into 60mins of Rugby Skills and Technique development, this is known as The Skills Chamber. The purpose of this session is to help perfect various techniques and skills thats needed to excel in the rugby sporting code. So this is where we’ll focus on tackle technique, rucking, ball skills/passing technique. We even improve on their rugby knowledge, focusing on rules of the game to improve their rugby IQ.

I believe that athletes that are more knowledgeable on the rules of the game, perform with high confidence levels.

Little recap of the week 🤛

Slide 1) Working on core stability with Tyler Johnny van Wijk - never too old to teach a semi pro rugby player some new tricks and techniques 🤛 in the last side you’ll see us working in some strength training too.

Slide 2) Working on conditioning with the u13D Lochnerhof rugby team after a month of them being on vacation 😅 it’s time to break that comfort zone

Slide 3) Tuesday night sprint session with the Mc Boys Macassar Rugby Football Club was a good session too. These drills are a forwards nightmare 😅

Development is key ❤️

If the goal of a community club is not to uplift, develop and to improve its community … it should go back to the drawing board. Focus on developing your coaching methods, your athletes, as well as the community itself - so that means developing their youth too, so that your community has depth.

My goal is to turn Rugby Players into Athletes 🤛 so if you ever find yourself being coached by me, PLEASE BE COACHABLE!!
