Heard of a Query Map? Neither did I until recently.
I use an app called UX Assist quite a bit and came across this framework which is pretty nifty!
A Query Map is a framework that structures your questions you could ask when starting a new project. .
HERE IS SOME EXAMPLE QUESTIONS
Business Questions
- Why is this product / feature important to the business?
- What elevator pitch do we want to tell?
- What is the value proposition?
- Who are your competitors?
- Will the product expand to other industries?
- How will we measure success?
User Questions
- Who are our users? (According to the stakeholders)
- What are their goals / tasks / jobs?
- Why will they use this product / feature?
- What do we already know about the users?
- How can we know more about the users?
- How will this product / feature help them?
Technology Questions
- How can technology enable the solution?
- What are the technology constraints?
- Are there legacy issues?
- How long will this take to build? - How will we ensure security and data privacy?
Team Questions
- Who will be working on this solution?
- Do we need to transfer knowledge?
- Has anybody worked on this before?
- Do we need to hire?
- What skills do we need?
These questions can be answered at various stages of the product lifecycle and can help you in taking design decisions. .

TOOL SHOUTOUT!

This is hands 🖐🏻 down one of the best tools I have worked with. And let me tell you why!
1. It’s all in the cloud baby! No matter where I am, I can access it.
2. It’s essentially a digital whiteboard and I can put all my thoughts in one place.
3. It’s collaborative so that means no matter where you are in the world you can collaborate ideas with your team mates.
4. It’s FREE! Well sort of. You can do a lot on the free option which is fricken cool!!!

Stakeholders are not scary (well...not all of em).
When starting any project set up some conversations with anyone who is tied to the business and / or project. This will help you understand the business more and define the problem you are trying to solve.
I know it’s easier said than done, but shoulder tap your colleague sitting next to you and start a convo!

STARTING WITH THE PLANNING PHASE IN THE USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN PROCESS.
This phase helps you define as much as you can from business, product and those that might use your solution.
Take this opportunity to involve as many as you can so that you have a better understanding of what is the problem and why it is a problem. Talk to stakeholders, your friends, your family, your colleagues. I will cover some tips and tricks to help you define the problem in a future post (so watch this space) but the best thing to do is just to talk to people and you will find yourself getting closer and closer to@solving that problem.

UX is the way you experience life, the world, a service and yes a website or an app (Don Norman said this and I totally relate). .

Story time!
My name is Justin Evans and I AM A FAILURE!

Not gonna sugar coat this. I fail. A lot! I am most likely going to fail at building this Instagram profile. But that’s ok because I will learn from this.
I am going on a journey to improve my craft and be the best that I can be and the best place is now. I have no clue where I am going but I know I am gonna love this bumpy ride.
I will be sharing my journey and help others to fail and to pick themselves up from failure.
I am not perfect and more with this be the best page for UX and other crafts but hell I am gonna have fun!
