We are proud to officially announce the upcoming launch of the Bhisho Legacy Series, a landmark sporting initiative dedicated to the spirit of resilience, unity, and excellence in the Eastern Cape.
OUR STORY
On September 7, 1992, the world watched as tragedy struck our capital. The Bhisho Massacre claimed 28 lives—fathers, mothers, and youth who stood for freedom. For decades, we have mourned. Now, it is time to rise. The Bhisho Legacy Series is a living memorial, turning the hallowed grounds of our history into a stage for our future champions.
THE TRIBUTE: 28 TEAMS FOR 28 HEROES
In a solemn pledge to the past, this tournament will feature exactly 28 participating teams across Rugby and Netball. Every match played, every try made and every goal scored will be in honour of a life lost.
VISION & MISSION
To Commemorate: Ensuring the names of 1992 are never forgotten by the youth of today.
To Develop: Unearthing the raw, undeniable talent of the Eastern Cape and providing a bridge to professional leagues.
To Unite: Bringing our communities together at chosen venues in heart of Bhisho to celebrate sport, culture, and peace.
LEADERSHIP
This vision is not imported; it is home-grown. The series is founded and directed by Bisho Youth Arts & Development Foundation. This is an non-profit organization registered and established to look after best interests and the development of the youth of Bisho in their entirety.
