♟️ Players faced off last night for the penultimate round of our Term 3 Swiss.

With age-category medals and trophies awaiting the top three finishers, who has what it takes to cross the finish line? 🏆

Before the serious chess began, our players had the chance to try a little Duck Chess—a preview of our first fun event planned for next term.

And, of course, they took to it… like ducks to water! 🦆♟️

🏆♟️ 5/5. 1ST PLACE. PROVINCIALS BOUND! ♟️🔥

Congratulations Snehin! 👏

North Coast Chess Club is incredibly proud of Snehin following his outstanding performance at the Eastern Cluster Schools Sport Summer Championships yesterday at Hoy Park & Dokkies, Durban.

Snehin was simply unstoppable, winning all five of his incredibly challenging games to finish on a perfect score and claim the top spot in his section.

His fantastic result sees him progress to the Provincial Schools Sport Summer Chess Championships, taking place in Durban on 23–24 September.

The Provincial Championships will bring together the top players from the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern Clusters, all competing for the opportunity to be selected to represent KwaZulu-Natal at the National School Sport Championships 2026/2027.

From district selection → cluster competition → provincials — Snehin continues to take every step in his stride. 👏♟️

Snehin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and consistency can do and the entire North Coast Chess Club family couldn't be prouder. 💙

♟️🔥 NCCC JUNIORS ARE ON THE MOVE! 🔥♟️

Another tournament, another fantastic showing from our North Coast Chess Club juniors! 👏🏆

Our players are locked in, finding their feet and making themselves comfortable on those podiums! 😎♟️

A big shoutout to today’s standouts:

🥇 Beauden — taking the #1 spot in U8!
🥉 Olivia — securing 3rd in U8!
🥈 Milan & Micah — the M&M dream duo, sharing 2nd place in U10! 💪

With the official results still to be published, there could be a few more NCCC names to add to the celebrations! 🎉

We LOVE seeing our players turning up week after week, battling it out across the boards and showing exactly what they can do. ♟️🔥

Tonight some games were over quickly, others took a bit longer—but all around the boards, the smiles were constant. 😊

What a beautiful morning we had at Shakaskraal Primary School, meeting some of their incredibly eager young chess learners! ♟️😍

The school’s growing appreciation for chess was clear from the moment we walked in—from the beautiful murals on the walls and the chessboard in reception to the enthusiasm of the principal, Coach Prince and, most importantly, the children themselves.

North Coast Chess Club partnered with Shakaskraal Primary in Term 2 by sponsoring a term of coaching with our amazing Coach Prince.

We saw real progress among his learners during that term. So, when Coastal Farmers approached us with a donation to give back to chess, we knew exactly where we wanted it to go: towards another term of coaching at Shakaskraal.

And the results speak for themselves. What began with just 14 children has grown into 46 eager learners, all filing into the chess room during their break today to take part in the session!

It was incredibly special to witness their enthusiasm and see how completely absorbed they were in the lesson. 💙

With the programme growing so quickly, D&D Schools Chess Association also delivered 30 chessboards to the school today, helping its equipment begin to catch up with the increasing number of players.

The growth has been remarkable, and we are thrilled to have played a small part in nurturing their love of the game. 💙♟️

A heartfelt thank you to Coastal Farmers Co-operative Limited for helping this wonderful programme continue to grow.
