August Coach of the Month: The Incredible Journey of Coach Choco 🏆⚽
Some coaches are hired; others are forged right here on our very own pitches. We are absolutely thrilled to announce Coach Choco as our Ballito United FC Coach of the Month for August!
Choco’s story is the ultimate testament to what character and football are all about. Several years ago, he joined BUFC as a young junior player with a dream. His natural leadership on the pitch quickly earned him the captain's armband, but he faced a significant hurdle: a language barrier. Determined to lead effectively and communicate properly with all of his teammates, he dedicated himself to learning English. Supported by his school English teacher and his BUFC coaches, Choco bridged that gap, proving that true captains will do whatever it takes to unite their squad.
His talent, drive, and heart eventually propelled him into the senior team. But the game can be unpredictable, and an injury derailed his playing career. Instead of walking away from the sport, Choco let his passion for football guide him down a new path. He decided to stay on the pitch, observe, and learn to be a coach. After several years of shadowing, studying, and absorbing invaluable guidance from our senior coaching staff, he has transformed into a fantastic coach.
We are presenting Choco with this award to recognise his outstanding dedication to Ballito United FC, his players, and our parent community. He brings excellent consistency, punctuality, and planning to every session and a constant willingness to learn and improve.
From a young junior player learning a new language to unite his team, to an inspiring mentor shaping the next generation, Choco embodies so much of what this club stands for.
