The International Combat Organization (ICO) is proud to announce its official expansion into Australia, and we are now calling for Expressions of Interest from martial arts clubs, gyms, coaches, and organizations nationwide.

ICO is one of the fastest-growing combat sport organizations in the world, established in 2009 and now operating across 45+ countries, with over 50,000 affiliated members globally. ICO is committed to the development, governance, and sanctioning of multi-discipline combat sports at both national and international levels.

Who We Are Seeking

ICO Australia is inviting affiliations from all recognized martial arts and combat sport systems, including but not limited to:

Muay Thai

Kickboxing

Boxing

MMA

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Wrestling & Grappling

Karate, Taekwondo, and traditional martial arts

Amateur combat disciplines

🇦🇺 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT – NEW ICO PRESIDENT OF AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺🔥

We are incredibly proud to announce Clinton Vermaak as the new ICO President of Australia — a huge step forward for our organisation and an exciting new chapter for Australian combat sports.

Clinton brings over 40 years of experience across kickboxing, boxing, karate, judo, wrestling and full-contact combat. He holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Kickboxing, is a Level 2/Silver Boxing Coach with Boxing Australia, and is the founder of Brawl Australia, where he has operated full-time boxing & martial arts facilities in Ballarat, Victoria since 2008 — including a 24-hour gym.

His journey started at just 8 years old. By 1990–1991 he was selected for the South African Defence Force/Police Boxing Team, before going on to become the South African Tang Soo Do Full Contact Champion and a regular competitor in karate kumite, kickboxing, and national all-styles championships.

Clinton also brings real-world leadership through his career as a police officer and security operative, adding discipline, professionalism, and a deep understanding of high-pressure environments.

As a coach, he has mentored state champions, Golden Gloves winners, and Australian champions — building fighters with heart, discipline, and technical excellence.
