When blocking a kick, it’s best to step away than to go straight forward. Especially if your opponent is quick enough, they can deliver another kick directly at you. Instead, step away whether it’s a gum sau (as demonstrated), gan sau, or quen sau to block the kick.

Last week, we had a very eventful Saturday!

We had three competitors for the Rylee's Rumble to Kick Cystic Fibrosis Open Martial Arts Tournament at Lee High School, both from Chan’s and affiliate schools. Congrats to our affiliate school Lion Martial Arts Academy for taking home two second place medals in sparring and weapon forms and congrats to one of our very own for taking home a second place medal in forms! Very proud of all of you that competed!

We also had a seminar with our very own Sifu Chan at Starlings KungFu . We very much appreciate the knowledge and continuing to honor and showcase Wing Chun!
