Buronga Builder Gears Up for 8th Ride at the Iconic 2025 Hattah Desert Race
Buronga, VIC — The red sands of north-west Victoria will soon thunder beneath hundreds of off-road motorcycles, as the Penrite Hattah Desert Race revs into gear once again.
Among the contenders is 20-year-old Noah Holmyard, a local builder and seasoned rider making his eighth appearance at the event.
Riding a 2024 Honda CRF450R, Holmyard is backed by Deakin Motorcycles, Consprcy Collective, and 4Site Building Solutions. With his dad stepping in as pit crew and fuel strategist, and Family thickly nestled in his corner, Noah continues to showcase grassroots racing spirit paired with quiet determination.
“Since my first race in 2011, I just fell in love with the sport,” Holmyard said. “Hattah is tough but unreal—the track and the level of competition bring out the best in you.”
In 2019, Noah achieved his personal best result—66th outright and 22nd in class, proving his skill and endurance across the punishing terrain. This year, his goal is clear: a Top 100 finish in one of Australia’s most physically demanding desert events.
Held annually near Mildura, the Hattah Desert Race draws elite riders and emerging talent from across the country. The race consists of up to eight laps of a 38km loop, combining fast straights, thick mallee scrub, deep sand whoops, and dust-heavy corners that test even the most experienced riders. The event has earned a reputation for raw intensity and community pride, especially among locals.
Holmyard credits Brodie Waters and Toby Price—legends of Australian off-road racing—as key influences in his career. Known for his work ethic both on site and on track, Noah balances full-time building with race prep that includes cross-training and technical rides across the region’s rugged terrain.
“Noah races with respect and grit,” said a team spokesperson. “He’s got no-frills passion, a solid machine under him, and Buronga in his blood. The whole crew’s proud of what he brings to the line each year.”
The team invites supporters to follow Noah’s Hattah journey on social media and cheer him on as he battles the elements and rivals for another top finish.
