What a wonderful evening — thank you!
A huge thank you to everyone who came to last night’s Tai Chi taster session. We had around 40 people in the room, and the atmosphere was calm, friendly, and full of curiosity. It was a real joy to share the practice with so many new faces.

I’m now setting up not one, but two new weekly classes for Thursday evenings — 6pm to 7pm and 7pm to 8pm — so that everyone who enjoyed the taster has a chance to join a regular group.

I’ll be in touch very soon with details and how to reserve your place.

Looking forward to practising with you again
— Gareth

Understanding the Three Dantian ☯️

In Qigong, the body isn’t just moved — it’s cultivated. The Three Dantian represent key centres of transformation within us:

🔴 Lower Dantian – the foundation
Located in the lower abdomen, this is where energy is stored and developed. It’s closely linked with the Kidneys and the refinement of essence (Jing).

🟡 Middle Dantian – the centre of breath and feeling
In the chest, this relates to post-natal Qi — the energy we gain from breathing and food. It supports circulation, emotion, and vitality.

🔵 Upper Dantian – awareness and spirit
At the forehead, this is associated with Shen — clarity, focus, and consciousness.

Through practice, Qigong refines:
Jing → Qi → Shen

This isn’t about separate parts, but a continuous process of transformation — building, circulating, and refining energy for overall wellbeing.

Most people think Tai Chi is just slow, gentle movement…
But the BBC recently highlighted something surprising:
👉Regular Tai Chi practice improves balance, reduces stress, effectively reduces fat, and benefits brain health.
What they don’t mention is this:
Those benefits only really show up when you’re shown how to do it properly and do it consistently.
That’s where most people get stuck.
If you’d like to explore tai chi further and see what it can do for you, feel free to get in touch.

🌿 Still Flowing Tai Chi’s Three Principles 🌿
In Tai Chi, we don’t just move — we root, connect, and relax.
This visual captures the heart of our practice:
1️⃣ Root Before You Move – Stability first, then action
2️⃣ Move as One String of Pearls – Whole-body integration
3️⃣ Relax to Release – Softness creates strength
✨ It’s not about doing more — it’s about doing less, with awareness.
🌀 Let the form flow through you.
