It was not Rgv Blaze vs Mayhem in the championship it was RGV Blaze versus the Texas Heat! From the beginning we knew something was off as our girls just couldn’t make the usual simple plays, but they remained vigilant and didn’t want to give up.
In the end, during the championship game, our coaches collectively made the decision to stop the game and finish with a tie. For us, this was never about a win or a loss. It was about prioritizing the health and well-being of our girls.
Three of our four core infielders were not feeling well, and two of our girls ended up in the ER. Anyone who knows this team knows our girls never complain, never make excuses, and never back down from a challenge. They are competitors at the core. Anyone who thinks otherwise, we encourage you to take a step back and rethink the strategy. At the end of the day, these are 6U athletes, and their health will always come first.
The reality is that 6U softball and its fans are sometimes brutal. It's time for a much-needed break to regroup, recover, and reorganize.
The silver lining? When we come back, we come back together. The same team returns, minus one player who has to move up 8U. That's something we're incredibly proud of. It's a privilege to be able to say that the wins we've earned have been earned with our team, from start to finish. Nothing more and nothing less.
We're proud of every single one of these girls. Rest up, recover, and get ready. The Blaze will be back. ❤️🥎🔥
