Period poverty doesn’t just affect students—it impacts working women every day. In the U.S., nearly 2 in 5 menstruating adults struggle to afford menstrual products.

A national survey showed that 64% of low-income women were unable to buy the supplies they needed at least once in the past year, and for 1 in 5 women, that struggle happens every single month. For working women, this often means missing shifts, using unsafe substitutes, or being forced to choose between paying bills and purchasing pads.

Period poverty is not just a health issue—it’s a workplace issue.

On Period Action Day, October 11, 2025, we are raising our voices to ensure dignity and equity for women at work and beyond.

Period Action Day is a global day of action dedicated to ending period poverty and stigma. Period poverty means having limited or no access to menstrual products or menstrual health education due to financial hardship or the negative stigmas that surround menstruation.

In Tennessee, the reality is staggering—there are nearly 1.5 million women and girls between the ages of 12 and 44, and about 1 in 6 lives below the Federal Poverty Level. That means more than 247,000 Tennesseans struggle to afford the products they need for basic menstrual care. To make matters worse, menstrual supplies are still taxed in Tennessee, adding extra financial burden to those already in need.

Research also shows that 1 in 4 students in our state has missed school because they didn’t have access to menstrual products, causing girls to fall behind in their education simply because of their periods.

On October 11, 2025, we stand together to say: Enough is enough. Join us on Period Action Day as we work to end period poverty and restore dignity for all.

Yesterday, Ms Tennessee Corporated America and State President Betina Hunt, attended Day 1 of the Ultimate Women's Expo with Vivica A. Fox was the keynote speaker.

Throughout the day Betina Hunt spoke and greeted many vendor booths owned by women entrepreneurs and Corporate Execs.
