Parents, I built something that will change how you see your athlete's mental game. And it takes 2 minutes. ๐Ÿง

Here's a question I get all the time:

"Does this mindset stuff actually work?"

Fair question. So I'm not going to just tell you it does.

I'm going to let you prove it to yourself.

I just launched a page with two quick tools:

1๏ธโƒฃ A short audio conversation that breaks down why the mental side of sports matters just as much as the
physical side.

2๏ธโƒฃ An interactive 4-question exercise about how YOU got where you are in your own life.

Answer the four questions honestly.

By the end, you'll understand exactly why Confidence, Clarity, Consistency, and Grit are the four things that shape not just better athletes, but stronger, more resilient kids.

You built those four things the hard way.

Your athlete doesn't have to.

Take 2 minutes. See it for yourself. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Sports Parent, This One Is For You

I want to tell you about an athlete situation.

17 years old. Junior. Starting point guard. D2 college interest. Heโ€™s team's leader.

Well, he had the worst game
of his season.

4 points, 7 turnovers, Fouled out in the third quarter.
His team lost by 6.

After the game his coach asked how he was doing.

He said:
"I'm good. I just had a bad night."

The next morning he missed the team lift without saying anything, went completely silent in the group chat.

And then he texted his mom
these words:

"I don't know if basketball
is even worth it anymore."

Sports parent, you know that text.

Maybe you have received it. Maybe you have worried about it in silence. Maybe you have seen it coming
for weeks.

Here is what I need you to understand about what this athlete was really saying in that text:

He was not talking about basketball.

He was exhausted from pretending everything was fine. He was carrying something heavy that nobody had given him the tools to put down. He was waiting for someone to see past the player and actually see him.

The Car Ride Home that night was the most important conversation of this athleteโ€™s season.

Not the game film. Not the scout report. Not the highlight tape.

The car ride home.

What you say in those 20 minutes after a hard game shapes how your athlete responds to adversity
for the rest of their life.

Most parents do not know what to say, not because they do not care, but because nobody ever taught them.

That is exactly what the Car Ride
Home Guide was built for.

It gives you the exact questions to ask, and the exact things to avoid, in every car ride home situation after wins, losses, good games and hard ones.

Itโ€™s available right now at:
omarstinney.com/checkout-page

And if your athlete is like this one, if they are carrying more than they are showing, the free Mental Performance Scorecard will tell you where they stand: omarstinney.com/scorecard

You cannot help what you cannot see.

The scorecard makes it visible.

Sports parent, this one is going to challenge something you have probably been doing with the best intentions.

Forced positivity under pressure can actually increase a slight uneasy feeling in athletes.

Here is why.

When your athlete is struggling in a game and you tell them
"stay positive, you've got this" their nervous system can feel the gap between that instruction and what they are actually experiencing.

That gap creates an uneasy feeling.

Something they could effectively use in the moment could be a Neutral Thinking tool.

Not positive. Not negative.
Just neutral.

Get accurate. Get focused. Get to the next action.

They could have a tool to effectively use in any hard moment, just three questions:

Question 1:
"What is actually true right now, just the facts?"

Question 2:
"What is all I can control in the next 60 seconds?"

Question 3:
"What is my next correct action?"

That is it.

No hype. No forced positivity. Just accurate thinking, followed by intentional action.

Here is something that every sports parent needs to know:

Research from Florida State University showed that hearing negative speech activates the same neural threat response as experiencing
an actual physical threat.

This means the words you use around your athlete, in the car ride home
at the dinner table on the sideline, are either building their performance capacity or quietly eroding it.

"Don't mess this up", fires a threat response in their brain before they even take the field.

"Stay focused on your process", gives their brain a job to do.

Same moment. Completely different neurological effect.

This is exactly why parent education is a core part of my Educational
Athletics Performance System I am building for schools and recreation programs.

The 45 minutes I spend with an athlete each week matter.

But the other 23 hours of their language environment matter more.

You are the most powerful person in your athlete's development.

Your words are performance infrastructure.

Use them intentionally.

What I Teach Athletes In Week 1 That Changes Everything After It...

Sports parent, I want you to read this one carefully.

Because what I am about to share with you is the single most important concept in my entire coaching system. And once you understand it, you will never watch your child compete the same way again.

Ok here it is:

The event does not determine the outcome. The response to the event does.

Think about the last time your athlete had a bad game.

A missed shot.
A bad at bat.
A fumble.
A poor performance.

What happened in the 3 seconds right after that moment?

Did their shoulders drop?
Did their head go down?
Did they go quiet and check out mentally for the next few plays?

That reaction, that spiral, cost them more than the mistake ever did.

Lets take a look at what Viktor Frankl, who survived the Holocaust said...

He documented that even in the most extreme human suffering, the one freedom that could never be taken was the ability to choose one's response.

He wrote that, between every stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies human freedom and growth.

My 48-week Future Success Agent Playbook teaches athletes
to find that space and use it.

The exercise is three steps:
Exhale โ†’ Posture up โ†’ Say "Powerful Word or Phrase"

Three seconds.

Every single time something goes wrong.

The neuroscience behind it is real research, from the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, and shows that deliberate response training actually increases prefrontal cortex engagement under
stress over time.

This is not about telling your athlete to have a better attitude.

This is BRAIN TRAINING.

And here is what you can do as a sports parent tonight:

The next time your athlete comes home frustrated after a tough practice or a bad game, before you say anything ask them one question:

"What was the one thing you could control in that moment?"

Then listen.

That question plants the seed of the most important mental shift
an athlete can make.

athlete currently stands mentally,

That Costs More Games Than Bad Talent Ever Will

I want you to picture something.

Your child's team is in the third quarter.
Their best player turns the ball over.
Bad pass. One mistake. Nothing serious.

Now watch what happens next.

Shoulders drop.
Head goes down.
They jog back on defense already
mentally checked out.

Next possession they force a shot
trying to make up for it.
Misses.

By the fourth quarter the kid who
was supposed to lead the team
is invisible on the floor.

The mistake did not lose the game.

The spiral after the mistake did.

As a sports parent, you probably
watched this happen, but not known
what to call it or how to help.

Here is what is actually happening
inside your athlete's brain in
that exact moment:

A public mistake triggers the same
neurological alarm as physical danger.
The thinking brain goes completely offline.
Within 10 seconds your athlete could be telling
themselves one or all three things simultaneously:

"I always mess up when it matters."
"Everyone just watched me fail."
"Coach is going to bench me."

This is not your child being weak.
This is an untrained brain doing
exactly what untrained brains do.

The good news?

It is completely trainable.

I teach athletes a 3-second tool
called The Mistake Ritual.

It works like this:
A reset word they choose themselves.
A hand signal they choose themselves.
One deep breath.

That is it.
Three seconds.
Every single time after a mistake.

When it is trained correctly in practice,
the body does it automatically in a game
before the spiral ever starts.

Dr. Jim Loehr studied the top 100
professional tennis players in the world
and found the top 50 outperformed
the bottom 50 not through superior skill,
but through what they did in the
15 seconds between points.

15 seconds, that's it.

That small window between a mistake
and the next play is where your
athlete's mental game either
shows up or falls apart.

Every day I will share one key insight for you.

Follow along if you are a sports parent
who wants to understand what your
athlete is going through mentally.
