Pioneer Cup Odell Lake Downwind Paddle Race in its 42nd year! (2023)
Saturday, July 29th.
Pre-Registration is required this year on www.webscorer search race registrations by Event Name: Odell Lake 2023 Pioneer Cup Or: Race id # 318441

Check-in will be at Odell Lake Resort, at the east end, where the finish and all activities will be hosted. The number of racers is limited to 30.
Check-in time, race day, from 9:00 to 11:00. Internet pre-registration is required. Racer meeting at 11:15. Shuttle to the start immediately after Racers Meeting!
Race start 12:00.
BBQ and Awards 1:00-2:00pm
Odell Lake Resort is presenting the race this year. Stand-on- Liquid will provide a big board trailer to help shuttle the boards to the start at Shelter Cove Resort. Very limited parking at Shelter Cove. The Barbecue is included in this years entry fee of $38.
The Categories are:
SUP 14'and under - Mens and Womens age groups -
17and under,
18-49,
50-59,
60+
Surfski mixed,
OC1-mixed,
Kayak mixed, one or two person
Canoe mixed.
This is a "downwind" race, very reliable, with knee to waist high waves. 12:00 start time is one hour later than previous for better wind. Odell Lake downwinding is half the distance and half the intensity of The Gorge Viento run, with a lot fewer hazards. That said, all downwinding requires safety leashes and pfd's required!
Blue green algae warnings will not cancel the race. Join us at the 42th annual, Odell Lake Resort Pioneer Cup!

The Odell Lake 2022 Pioneer Cup Results
The best part of this years race was the camaraderie and the attitude of the participants! Even though the wind didn't cooperate for the usual downwind conditions it was a great race and a test of endurance and skill. A highlight was the youngest participant ever, Niva Bruggeman, Age 8. Kudos to Odell Lake Resort for the BBQ and hosting the event!
