As a Nigerian girl, finding security through a man wasn’t just advice… it was the version of womanhood I inherited.
It took me years to let go of that story,
to risk safety for fulfillment, to trust that I too could provide for me and my son.
That belief didn’t disappear overnight, I shed it layer by layer.
I think that’s what becoming really is.
Not always becoming something new…. sometimes it’s the courage to shed what was never yours.
A serpent doesn’t apologize for the skin it’s outgrown.
