Doug Dubach is a regular at the Farleigh Castle vets event, having raced at 13 of these events since its inception, and is the only racer to win three classes on one weekend when he was a member of the winning USA squad, the +50 and twin shock classes at the OG vets race, formed in 2009. This year, the event is in its 17th year and will be held on its traditional mid-September dates, 10th – 13th.

Born in 1963, Dubach began his passion for motorcycles on a Briggs and Stratton minibike. After a few years, he got an XR75 and rode it as often as he could at Saddleback Park. He started racing just before his 15th birthday, on a Yamaha YZ80. Doug quickly moved from 80 Novice to 80 Expert in just four months!

He began his pro career in earnest at the 1982 Carlsbad National, finishing just behind Jeff Ward (Ward was 9th; Dubach was 10th). He continued racing Supercross and Nationals as a factory Yamaha racer. His greatest race would be the 1991 San Jose SX, where he took the win. Dubach kept racing professionally until his last gate drop in 2001.

Dissatisfied with other aftermarket companies, Dubach started his own accessory business. His deep understanding of products, developed through his work as a magazine test rider and developer for Yamaha and his own DrD products, set a solid foundation for his business.

Dubach remains active in vet motocross racing and holds an unbeatable record in the World Vet Championships, with 27 titles and counting! In addition, he has always exhibited a super-positive attitude when dealing with the public, a great enthusiasm for all things moto, and is a humble family man to boot.
Doug Dubach has been selected as this year’s Edison Dye Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient!

Beyond the racing, Farleigh Castle Vets MX offers a full weekend of motocross culture, set against the historic Somerset backdrop that’s made it a firm fixture on the UK motocross calendar. Gates open at noon on Thursday, September 10th, giving fans time to wander the trade village and open paddocks, catch up with friends and rivals, take a track walk, or admire the array of lovingly restored two-strokes and twin shocks before the gate drops on a sixty-strong line-up of racers past and present on Saturday morning.

Many only exist on the track; off the track, it’s all friendship and beers.

Stormworks Garage head honcho Sonnie Mee is entering his own team into the international race at the OG vets event, the Farleigh Castle Vets MX held on its traditional mid-September date and as team manager, Sonnie isn’t messing about with his team picks!

First out of the gate is Tommy Merton, who will be lining up on a Stormworks Husky CR 250 and rocking the number 19 plate. At 45 years old, he is the senior member of the team but is still more than capable of getting a podium result.

Next, and who you have to consider as team captain is Welshman Glen Phillips, a regular on the vets scene since he retired from professional racing. His speed and ability cannot be questioned. Phillips is always a hard charger, who takes no prisoners and will be on the Husky CR 360 shod with the number 20 plates.

Last but certainly not least, on the number 21 machine is Ty Kellett, who, at 32, is the baby of the team. He will be on a Stormworks Husky CR 250. He is certainly one to look out for when the gate drops at the quintessentially English Grand Prix circuit on Saturday, September 12th.

The event is a firm favourite with riders and fans and attracts riders from all over the world. The event attracts many a former pro rider, too! With 10 classes pr block and sixty riders on the line per race, there is plenty of racing action for all.

Spectator tickets and camping passes are frozen at 2024 prices, providing an affordable, brilliant family weekend.
