Some of us would like to gain some distance, especially off the tee, and adding a little on the fairways is also nice, BUT if you can do this effortlessly while aiming to achieve Accuracy & Consistency… Mr Barocci came to see us today…
Beautiful set of woods, .golf iBlades and new wedges.
We started testing with the 8i, finding that with a 4g weight added behind the hand, we added around 4m on average & most important a significantly improved dispersion. This setup resulted in a D1.0 swing weight. From this all the irons from 4i to PW were fitted with different weights to achieve the desired D1.0 ballpark swing weight. As confirmation we tested the 4i separately to find that adding an 11g weight resulting in the best performance on the 4i. Not surprising that the swing weight then indicated to be around that magic D1.0 mark.
Mr Barocci loves his PXG woods and really needed to get some accuracy off the tee as a main requirement. Adding a 6g weight did exactly that… over 10m gained off the tee and again tremendous improvement in accuracy. Also on his woods the magic number for his swing weight was D1.0… and a sign of a great build by the team from PXG allowed us to add the exact same weight to each of the woods to achieve the same result. Good job 👏🏻
Lastly we tested the all important wedges… with the GW being a few swing weights lighter than the SW and LW, we were able to get all 3 wedges to within 0.3 of a swing weight adding 11g to the SW and LW. The short game is a great concern for Mr Barocci. He explained that the strike now feels more “solid” & we trust this will add some confidence over time to allow him to commit to those shorter “feel” shots.
We trust his game Will improve from the outset, but from what we can tell, another Very happy golfer today saw the advantages of fitting grips for performance…
