We don’t post much directly on here these days as we are now fully integrated in to Huel Tring Rugby so all our socials are on there.
But I m so proud of what ECFB has become.
Not just a full part of the club but also now with our Ladies section the ECFB Roses.
A break weekend in the league allowed us to play a mixed ECFB Tourno on Sat. 70 players from across the club.
It’s what community rugby is all about.
All at the same time as our 3rd XV having an awesome away victory!
Our club is thriving! So please follow Huel Tring Rugby to keep up to date with everything at cow lane!

Machins Solicitors Extend Huel Tring Rugby Partnership

After the success for our first year, Machins Solicitors have confirmed an extended partnership with Huel Tring Rugby for 24/25.

Machins continue their support of ECFB, (Egg Chasing for Breakfast) our non contact section at Huel tring Rugby. After the success of the last club touch championships we will once again proudly showcase Machins on all our teams shirts in the May 25 Touch Tourno!

ECFB will also be hosting all sorts This season as the section grows to over 100 players. It’s going to be another bumper year as ECFB host a Club Networking Event, Six nations day tourno , head to Overton RFC on tour and we are so excited to launch ECFB ladies! (More info coming soon)

Extending their involvement across the club Machins will also be sponsoring the Mini and Juniors award ceremony at the end of season.

Go Max!! Huel Tring Rugby

CONGRATULATIONS MAX!

Huge congratulations to our own and , who have won the International 7s Series in South Africa!

A win against a physical Australian team in the Final saw Max and the boys take the silverware!

Max and England now turn their attention to the International 10s Series this week, going for the double!

Some sad news today as the club can announce that Michael Hicks will be stepping down as 2nd XV Coach and Manager.

During his time in the role, Hicksy took the 2nd XV from strength to strength and everyone at the club would like to thank him for his amazing efforts! He has, without a doubt, left the 2nd XV in a great place through all his hard work.

From a player, to a coach and manager - a true club man! Thanks for everything, Hicksy!

Pre season for the seniors and colts begins on Tuesday 9th July, and we can’t wait to get underway!

Not only is this the first training session of the new season, but we have touch rugby and a post training BBQ to look forward to!

Yeeeees Sam! Welcome to the team.
Another ECFB Legend! 🫢💪👍

From Director of Rugby Tom Mowbray

After 9 successful seasons Giles Wallis has now stepped down as Head Coach. We want to express our gratitude to Giles for his dedication throughout those years. His hard work and commitment was especially valuable to the whole club. We sincerely appreciate all his efforts.

As we look toward the future, we are thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter for Huel Tring Rugby Club. Sam Townsend will be joining us as the Head Coach for the 2024/2025 season. In this role, Sam will be responsible for overseeing the senior rugby programme, providing invaluable guidance and support to coaches, players, and managers.

Sam comes to us with an exceptional coaching CV. From 2012-2017 he took Verulamians to a league & cup double in his last season with them. He then challenged himself to go across the World and head up a rugby programme at St Albert RFC in Canada. After a successful 7 months delivering that programme he headed back to the UK and took up the role of Head Coach for Hemel Hempstead (Camelot) RFC from 2017-2023. In his final year he again achieved a league & cup double. This last season he has been responsible for the contact area and forwards at Old Albanians RFC.

Sam has also worked in education and has a great understanding of developing young athletes and how to transition u18s into the senior environment, this will be a key area in his role. These roles included:-

Lead coach at New Hall School between 2018-2021
Director of Rugby (Male Playing and Youth Development) Hertfordshire RFU - 2020 - 2023
Rugby Coach Oaklands College 2021 - Present
Sam’s depth of experience and his unique ability to develop both young and senior players are what set him apart as a leader and coach. We are confident that his vision and expertise will lead Huel Tring RFC to new heights in the coming seasons.

I am delighted to assume the role of Head Coach at Huel Tring Rugby.

Having been involved in coaching in grassroots rugby clubs for over 12 years, it is an honour to be asked to continue the development of players and coaching staff within the senior men’s programme at such a strong community rugby club. The Club’s values are aligned with my own in regard to prioritising youth development and offering playing opportunities for all, and in doing so providing the best possible rugby experiences.

In collaboration with Director of Rugby Tom’s vision for a sustainable and progressive club environment, my main remit for the senior squad is to uplift both the playing standards and the enjoyment factors which unite in making rugby such a unique and challenging sport to be involved in.

Finally, I would like to thank the committee, players, and existing club members whom I have met so far, for making feel so welcome in the initial stages of my appointment. I look forward to working with you all in some capacity and enjoying a beer with you in the clubhouse throughout the season.
