Unexpectedly great night!

It was all good for Ty in his #41 SK Modified. He was once again the fastest car in practice, crew decided to only run one round. He started his qualifying heat 5th and finished 4th. This had him lining up P10 in the 27 car, 40 lap feature. He fell back a couple spots in the beginning, then started picking off cars one by one. There were a couple of cautions in the first half of the race, Ty restarted on the outside P8. He just missed getting caught up in a big wreck some laps later and gained two spots, was now up to 6th. Ty didn’t get into the top 5 until lap 28, two circuits later he took the lead when the cars in front of him got together a little bit. He fell to 2nd place on a restart but got back into 1st on the next one. Ty held on to lead the final six laps and took home his first SK Modified win!!! So nice to be back in Victory Lane!

Good night!

Best night of the season for Tyler in his #41 SK Modified. He was once again fastest in practice and he easily won his heat race after starting 3rd. The feature event had 27 cars, Ty lined up to start 6th. A car in front of him dropped out before the race started moving him up to P4 for the green flag. He did some nice driving and was in the lead by the eighth lap. There were a few cautions and he was able to maintain his lead on the restarts despite having a gear issue. Tyler was overtaken on lap 27- he drove a hard, entertaining last thirteen laps doing all he could to regain the lead but had to settle for 2nd in the end. Was really nice to have a competitive car and be on the podium!!!

Okay night…

It was a regular Friday night of weekly racing at Stafford, Tyler ran his #41 SK Modified. He was fastest in the first practice, a little slower in the second. The heat race had him starting 3rd and finishing 2nd which was okay but he felt that the car wasn’t handling well. The crew went to work and made adjustments hoping for a faster piece. Tyler lined up P6 for the 40 lap feature and was in 2nd by the third lap. He ran there for the next 23 laps, eventually getting passed and falling to 4th. He fought hard and maintained that position, finishing just off the podium (4th) in the 26 car field. He feels that we’re still missing something on the setup, work will be done in the shop to see if we can be better next week. Happy that there wasn’t any damage!

Disappointing but not damaged

Tyler brought his #41 SK Modified to the track for the second race of the season. We all had high hopes and they were reinforced when he was fastest in the first practice with a nice time. Ty started his heat race 5th and finished 4th. This had him lining up P9 for the 26 car feature. Unfortunately, for some reason the car would not handle. Ty got shuffled back some for racing incidents, but mainly he just couldn’t get the car to work optimally and he slowly lost positions. He wound up finishing 17th but got scored as 15th after 2 cars ahead of him got disqualified. A disappointing, confusing night. The crew has already been working hard to figure out the problem and are hoping for a much better showing next week.

Better Spring Sizzler than last year!

Tyler ran his #41 SK Modified, after spending all winter building it we were excited to see how it would go. Practice was fine but the motor needed some attention. Qualifying was tough, he started in the outside lane (P2) and fell back finishing 5th. This had him line up 15th in the 27 car field for the 40 lap feature. He methodically picked off cars and was in 3rd on lap 35. He got shuffled around a bit and fell back to P5 which is where he finished.

Steven had a tough day. He drove the #25 Open Modified owned by Gary Casella for the second time this season. Practice was great, he was 5th fastest out of 26 cars. Qualifying was a bit harder, he wound up 13th. Steven started the heat race P5 and was looking good when he got black flagged after only completing 4 laps, his car was smoking. Unfortunately, a piston went and Steven’s day was over.

Tyler once again was behind the wheel of the Les Hinckley Racing #06 Open Modified. He was 8th fastest in practice, 3rd in qualifying and went from 2nd to 3rd in his heat race. He ended up on the pole (after a draw) for the 100 lap race. That’s when the fun really began! A very exciting race, thrilling last couple laps, and him ending up on the podium, P2!!! A few stats - he led 22 laps, was in 2nd for 57 laps, 3rd for 16 laps, 1 lap in 4th, 2 laps in 5th and 4 laps in 6th (stats a little off, race monitor scored a couple laps twice with different positions most likely due to the cautions). Oh, and he showed as laying down the fastest lap in the field.

Thank you to Gary Casella and the entire #25 crew for the opportunity. A special shout out to Jason, Matt, Anthony, Zach and Gregg for the pit practice sessions at the shop- hopefully we can show off your skills at the next race!

Thank you to Les Hinckley and his team, so grateful for the opportunity to race - that was one fast car!
