Tamar & Tavy Gig Club Join us for traditional pilot gig rowing on the idyllic River Tamar. We have worked hard as a club to build up our squads and now have a membership of over 130.

We row four boats – Ginette (b. 2004) and Tamar (b. 2008), our two traditional wooden pilot gigs for racing, Belinda O’Flynn (b. 2010) and Birlander, our glass fibre boats for training. Not bad for a club run entirely by volunteers! We are always keen to welcome new rowers, whether to keep fit, compete or just enjoy the tranquillity of the River Tamar. All new rowers get 3 free taster sessions – so come and join us and give gig rowing a try. Gig Rowing truly is a ‘Sport for All’ so whether you are looking to keep fit, compete or just enjoy the tranquillity of the river Tamar, our Club will have a rowing session that will suit you or your family. The Club offers several rowing sessions to suit everyone and each Squad welcomes new/novice rowers – you are welcome to attend as many as you wish. Year round rowing

🌊🚣‍♂️ A fantastic morning on the Tamar! 🚣‍♀️🌊

What a great morning of rowing, laughter and a little bit of healthy competition! 😄

We mixed things up with crews made up of everyone from complete beginners through to our competitive rowers, then threw them into two competitive races, with three boats on the start line in each race! 🏆

Because, of course, once the boat leaves the pontoon, everything becomes competitive! 😂

For some, it was their very first race experience, while others were putting their racing legs to good use. Everyone gave it their all and, most importantly, everyone seemed to have a fantastic time.
It was a brilliant opportunity to row with people you might not normally share a boat with, meet some of our newer members and experience the fantastic club atmosphere we have at Tamar & Tavy. 💙

And then came the really important part of the morning… homemade cakes, fruit and drinks! 🍰

Thanks to everyone who took part, helped organise things, coxed, coached, encouraged and, most importantly, joined in with the fun.

Great rowing, great people and great vibes on the Tamar! ❤️🚣‍♂️

What a fab night! Rumleigh Farm hosted the brilliant for their annual Rumleigh Row and Camp summer jolly last night!

What with Idlllic conditions for the row up and back to Weir Quay and an overnight camp. Dry camping gear - unheard of!!

To the boys taking over the BBQ station for a DIY dinner. A brilliant evening of live music and much dancing with and then breakfast rolls the morning after (thanks for the loan of your griddle bbq!).

A perfect weekend all round!! ? Same time next year??

That Monday question...... get up to much at the weekend?

Another exceptional 'Round the Island' 20km event from River Teign Rowing Club. From our hosts - brilliant organisation, hospitality and support; thank you!

For : 2 crews entered, and solid endurance racing.

Of the 18 Gigs participating, from our Women a solid 7th position across all Gigs and categories; 2nd Womens Gig crew across the line in Iron Maid - to the locals just ahead of them!

Our Men's (Open crew) coming in 3rd overall, with every effort to push for Dart Gig Club for the 2nd spot - but not to be this year. Great mixed-age group from 18 Young Adult through to our Masters members.

Fantastic event, results we're proud of and look forward to next year!

Today, Sunday Juniors competed in Under 14s Champs held at Stithians Lake.

First two heats, smashed it 💥 with two 🥇🥇!

Quarter finals, a 3rd place against some tough (and big) competition which took our competition to an end. 12/25 overall another top half finish for Tamar & Tavy.

Amazing group of teenagers across all Clubs, congratulations to our own Superstars and all those competing today. Great day out bringing pride to your Club, Coaches and parents alike. 💪☺️😁

Saturday CPGA Vets Championships was a stunner! Thank you GigRower.co.uk [CPGA] and Brixham Gig Rowing Club for amazing hospitality and organisation 🙌

Two Vets crews; with our Women 3rd in their heat and into the B-Final. Final placement of 20th of 47 crews. 💪☺️

For our Men’s crew, 7th in heat, and pushed into B-Final. Tough Final and finishing 21st overall. 😁

Great Saturday of rowing, sun, beach and of course great company
