In a little over 5 weeks Rob Ormond & Jack Gray will be undertaking a self supported, 1,200 miles bike packing trip through 12 countries over 15 days from Zadar in Croatia back to the UK in aid of Alzheimer's Society.
Having both had first hand experience of losing those close to them to Dementia it is a cause very close to their hearts, so to mark their 30th years they wanted to raise awareness of a struggle so many families go through and raise as much money as possible in aid of this.
Turning the first pedal on July 12th, they will hit UK soil again on July 26th - summer social day! Chris Wilson has kindly agreed to lead a ride in tandem with the summer social to leave Needham Market at 9am on the 26th, with a 30 mile ride out to Cafe Como to meet up with the lads on the final stretch. Como have agreed to put on a spread for them and those who wish to join them. From there we will ride the final 15 miles of their adventure back with them to the Rampant Horse in Needham Market to join in with the summer social. For those who wish to join, a route and ride details will follow in the coming weeks.
A note from Rob & Jack: "In a short space of time we have already been able to raise over £2,000 and we have been so touched by the response. Our aim is to raise as much as possible, we are fully aware that in current times purse strings can be tight, but any way you would be able to support us, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. Having both ridden with SDCC for many years, to be able to finish our journey with members of the club who in many ways have inspired us over the years to ride our bikes, would be such an incredible way to round off our trip. Keep an eye on our Instagram page (The GrayMond Tour) for updates running up to the adventure and for following our progress once we are underway!"
