Jennifer Hanway I know how empowering it is to feel amazing in your body. Let me guide you on that journey.

I spent a day at a women’s success conference last week and came away thinking about the one thing that was not on the agenda.

The speakers were excellent. The content on personal branding, networking, social media, and AI was genuinely valuable and I took a lot away from the day. But I sat there for eight hours thinking about the gap between everything being taught in that room and the biological reality of the women sitting in it.

So many of the women there are in their 40s and 50s. They are ambitious, experienced, and working incredibly hard. And a significant number of them are also quietly dealing with disrupted sleep, inconsistent energy, brain fog, and a body that feels like it is working against them rather than for them. They are trying to build personal brands and grow businesses while their hormonal and metabolic health is running a completely different agenda in the background.

Your energy, your mental clarity, your ability to think sharply under pressure, to hold a room, to show up consistently at the level your ambitions require, all of it is downstream of your biology. Optimising your content strategy while ignoring your metabolic health is like upgrading your marketing while your infrastructure is falling apart.

The most successful women I know and work with have figured this out. They do not treat their health as something separate from their professional performance, they treat it as the foundation that EVERYTHING else is built on.

As a longstanding member of Magazine’s Brain Trust, protein is a topic I never get tired of talking about. And right now, it is everywhere.
From Starbucks’ protein cold foam to Chipotle’s high protein menu to Khloé Kardashian’s protein popcorn, every major brand is capitalising on the protein moment. And honestly? Some of it I am here for, and some of it I am not.

Here is what I told New Beauty, and what I tell my clients every single day. When caloric intake drops, which happens significantly for women on GLP-1 medications or weight loss diets, protein becomes even more critical for preserving muscle mass and supporting skin structure. Getting this right is the difference between losing weight and creating the body you actually want.

But not all protein is created equal. Source matters as much as quantity. A complete, bioavailable protein like whey is a very different thing to a token amount of protein added to a product so a brand can put it on the label. The wellness industry has a habit of taking something genuinely important and turning it into a marketing line, and protein is too critical for women over 40 to get lost in the noise.

Let me save you a lot of wasted time & money-reformer pilates is not going to give you your summer body if you are in your 40s or 50s.

There is a clinical explanation for why women can go five times a week, feel genuinely strong and committed, and have nothing to show for it in the mirror.

That explanation comes down to the specific muscle fibres women lose most rapidly after 40, the difference between muscular endurance and an actual muscle-building stimulus, and the fact that your bones and your metabolism both require a type of load that reformer does not consistently provide.

The women who look incredible going into their 40s and beyond are not the ones who went to reformer the most. They are the ones who understood what their biology needed at this hormonal stage and trained accordingly.

At this stage in my career I’ve helped hundreds of women achieve the lean, toned body of their dream quickly and efficiently - including celebrities who need to get in shape for film roles, red carpets and paparazzi filled vacations.

Here are the things I DON’T do to get them in shape fast:

* Carb Cycling
* Reformer Pilates
* Vibration Plates
* Light Weights
* Intermittent Fasting
* Cardio Every Day
* Low Protein

Are you making any of these mistakes? LMK below and I’ll give you the strategies that DO work ⬇️

If nothing is working after 40, this is usually why👇🏻

Your effort is not the problem. Your protein intake probably is.

After 40, the amount of protein your body needs to preserve muscle, support fat loss, and maintain skin firmness increases considerably, and most women have no idea their current intake falls short.

The result is a metabolism that feels stuck, a body that isn’t changing despite consistent effort, and skin that’s losing firmness faster than it should. Not because of age. Because of an information gap that is genuinely easy to close.

My free protein guide for women over 40 gives you the exact numbers, the right timing, and the food sources that deliver results for both your body and your skin.

Welcome to the corner of the internet where we believe in getting healthier and hotter over 40.

Weight gain, belly fat, a square body and a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp? Not here.

This is for the women who refuse to go quietly into elasticated waistbands and sensible shoes.

Who look at their peers and think absolutely not.

Who are not interested in being told that feeling exhausted, gaining weight around their middle, and watching their face slide down their neck is just part of the deal.

Does it get harder after 40? Absolutely.

But can we be our hottest, healthiest and most sexy selves in our 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and beyond?

Hell yes - and I’m here to help you do that (if you are willing to put in the work).

I’m 45, in perimenopause with 16% body fat and I have gained over 13lbs of lean muscle in the last year. And yes, I microdose a GLP-1.

The GLP-1 has helped to calm my food noise and balance my blood sugar, but it’s not the one eating 120g of protein a day, timing carbohydrates and increasing my fibre and polyphenols.

It’s not the one who has given up alcohol or who rarely (like a few times a year) eats sugar.

It’s not the one working so hard to mange her stress, who treats her sleep like gold and who puts in the reps 4 x a week in the gym (and who can now finally do chin ups).

The GLP-1? 2% of my results. The right diet, supplements, training, stress and sleep protocol? 98% of my results.

The medication is a tool. The protocol is everything. If you want more info on how I get these results for myself and my clients comment ‘PROTOCOL’ below. ⬇️

Food noise isn’t a willpower problem. It’s a hormone problem.

If you finish a meal and still crave something sweet... if you’re thinking about your next meal while still eating the current one... if food feels like a constant low level hum you simply cannot turn off - that’s food noise.

And for so many women, especially in perimenopause and beyond, it’s absolutely exhausting.
In my latest feature in , I break down exactly what food noise is, why it happens, and most importantly - how to quiet it naturally through nutrition.

The good news? When you consistently give your body the right nutrition, the food noise eventually become silent.

It takes a village 🤣

My non negotiables as a 45 year old woman trying to optimise every area of my health and performance.
Is it a lot? Yes. Is it expensive? Also yes.
But I truly believe there is no better investment than your physical and mental health, and at 45 I truly believe I am only just getting started.

What have I missed? What’s on your non-negotiables list?

If you are eating your protein but skipping your workouts I have some bad news for you…

Here’s something that might reframe how you think about your metabolism - protein is NOT the most powerful tool you have for preserving lean muscle mass. Resistance training is, and the distinction matters enormously, particularly for women navigating their 40s and beyond.

Protein is the building material, but strength training is the signal that tells your body to actually use it. Without that stimulus, your body has no physiological reason to hold onto muscle tissue regardless of how much protein you’re consuming.

When you lift weights (no, reformer pilates doesn’t count), you trigger the signal that communicates one clear message to your physiology: this tissue is essential, keep it, build it, protect it.

That signal drives muscle protein synthesis (repair and building of lean muscle tissue), improves your blood sugar regulation and insulin sensitivity, supports your metabolic rate, and plays a direct role in maintaining shape, strength, and skin integrity.

If you’re hitting your protein target but skipping resistance training, you’re missing the most powerful tool available to you. Lift first, then fuel, and save this as your reminder that your workouts are not optional if a strong, sculpted, lean and metabolically active body is the goal.
