Pegasus Slowpitch Softball Association Pegasus Softball is the largest LGBTQ+ softball league in Dallas, TX.

Pegasus Slowpitch Softball Association is a Dallas/Fort Worth based nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the promotion of quality amateur softball of all levels of play for persons of any race, creed, religion, s*x, gender identity, s*xual orientation or national origin, without prejudice, and with special emphasis placed on the participation of members of the LGBTQ+ community. The goal of

the league is to provide a sports outlet for individuals as a means to meet like-minded people, improve their athletic abilities, promote good sportsmanship and organize and promote participation by its members in social, cultural and charitable activities as may serve our community. We are committed to continued growth of our league, not only in number, but also in striving to give back to our community.

Pride Month is a time to celebrate our community, honor those who came before us, and recognize the progress that has made spaces like ours possible.

This AAPI Heritage Month, Pegasus Softball is proud to celebrate the voices, experiences, and stories of our Asian American and Pacific Islander community members.

We asked David Padilla:

"How can leagues like Pegasus Softball continue creating inclusive and welcoming spaces for everyone?"

David shared:

"I'm proud to be part of PSSA for the last 10 years. No matter your background or who you are, the league welcomes you with open arms. In a time of so much division, it's even more important to have a league where people can go to feel included."

David's words remind us that inclusion isn't just about who is invited to play—it's about creating a community where everyone feels they belong. 🌺🥎 Celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month 🥎🌺

This AAPI Heritage Month, Pegasus Softball is proud to celebrate the voices, experiences, and stories of our Asian American and Pacific Islander community members.

We asked Jonah Villegas:

"What does celebrating diversity in Pegasus Softball look like to you?"

Jonah shared:

"Growing up Asian, I saw very little representation, and even today, there still isn’t nearly enough. I joined this league because someone joked that it would be funny to see me try. So I showed up in regular tennis shoes, with a borrowed glove and a purse.

What I lacked in skill, I tried to make up for with hard work, humility, and a willingness to learn.

Pegasus has given me a place to show that little gay Asian kid that he can come exactly as he is. It’s where I learned to be proud of my brown skin, my slanted eyes, and every part of who I am. Here, people see your character before your differences.

More than a softball league, this community has given me a chosen family—and a place where diversity isn’t just celebrated, it’s lived every day."

We asked Rommel Carlos:

"Why is representation in the LGBTQ+ sports communities important to you?"

Rommel shared:

"Representation in LGBTQ sports communities is important to me because it signals that everyone deserves a place on the playing field, not just as spectators but as competitors. It challenges the old and tired narrative that only certain types of people can play sports. Qualities tied to sports such as passion, strength, and discipline are not only tied to a single identity."

Representation matters because it creates visibility, breaks down barriers, and reminds us that sports are for everyone. At Pegasus Softball, we are proud to foster a community where every player can show up authentically, compete with pride, and be celebrated for who they are.

We asked Lowen Hanselman:

"What does celebrating diversity in Pegasus Softball look like to you?"

Lowen shared:

"No matter my race or s*xual orientation, PSSA has embraced and welcomed me into its family and community. We all have one common goal—to go out and compete amongst our peers and do our small parts to make our league and community a safe and welcoming place!"

At Pegasus Softball, we believe our strength comes from the diversity of our players, volunteers, officials, and supporters. By creating a space where everyone feels valued, respected, and included, we continue to build a community that extends far beyond the softball field.
