Re-cap from The Tournament at Wahconah Country Club on Sunday June 7th.

Despite cool temperatures and intermittent rain showers, the weather did little to dampen spirits. The course was in excellent condition, and players were extremely impressed, particularly since it was the first time most of them had played it.

Player/Hogan Flight – Dan Giovannangelo from Schenectady posted a 40 on the front, never looking back posting a 42 on the back punctuating his win with a birdie on the Par 3, 17th hole. to win by 6 strokes over James MacKinnon from Rouses Point. Dan received a $120 gift card for his win.

Palmer Flight – Brett Varney from Hudson Falls did the same in his flight as he posted a 40 on the front and 42 back nine to win going away. Brett received a $80 gift card for his win.

Jones/Tiger Flight – Jake Van Ness from Queensbury started the day with a par and birdie. That’s all it took for him to keep it rolling to a 43 on the front nine to stay 2 strokes ahead of Adam Miller from Westfield, MA. Jake finished with a total of 90 4 strokes ahead of Adam. Jake received a $120 gift card for his win.

Skins and Polie games-

Player/Hogan Flight - 3 total skins. James MacKinnon on the par 5 - seventh hole, Paulot Truchard on the par 5 - fourteenth hole and Dan Giovannangelo on the par 3 - seventeenth. Each received $26 for their skins.

Palmer Flight – No one got a birdie so we moved the criteria to pars and there were plenty. Brett Varney from Hudson Falls had 6 and received $36, Tom Hazen from Stephentown and Jeff Gorham from Fort Edward each had 2 and they received $12 each.

Jones/Tiger Flight – Jake Van Ness from Queensbury birdied the par 3 second hole, Adam Miller from Westfield, MA birdied the par 5 seventh hole and Erin Varney from Fort Edward birdied the par 4 fourth hole. Each received $34 for their birdies.

Giant Skins – Total of five skins. James MacKinnon, Dan Giovannangelo, Paulot Truchard, Jake Van Ness and Adam Miller each received $18 for their birdies.

Polies – Jake Van Ness took home the biggest prize of the day winning $100 for the only polie on the second hole.

I have some really good news. I have secured The Edison Club for October 5th this year. But it will count towards next year because this season ends with the National Tournament in Oregon in September. I also booked Cooperstown, the Leatherstocking Course for next spring at a very reasonable rate. Nice courses coming up in the future. A couple Pix from Leatherstocking.

Re-cap from Fairways of Halfmoon Tournament April 25, 2026
On a day that forecasted sunshine and mid 50’s the day turned out a little colder than expected. Low 50’s with a very cool wind tampered with most of the scores but a few prevailed.

Champ/Player Fight – This one turned out to be quite the battle. Evan Hughes from Syracuse came out of the gate with a birdie on the opening hole. A par 5 and continued to birdie the other two par 5’s on the front only to stumble on a couple par 4’s with bogies. Posting a one under 36 on the front. Nathan McLaughlin from Saratoga hit a 37 and Thomas Miles from the Albany area kept it close by putting up a 38. In the second half Evan put up two bogies while Thomas drew even with two pars and the match was on. A double bogie on the fifteenth cost Thomas the match as he posted a 37 back matching Evan’s back nine. Evan won the match with a one over 73 while Thomas was at 75 and Nathan finished with a 77. Evan got a $100 gift card for his win.

Hogan/Palmer Flight – Dave Donlon from Latham put up a 42 on the front leading a group of 6 guys within 4 strokes. But Brett Varney from Hudson Falls took command on the back with a 37 while everyone one else struggled with scores in the forties. Brett finished with an 82 while Dave ended at 84 for second place. Brett picked up a $130 gift card for the win. Dave got a $30 gift card for second.

Tiger Flight – Was never in doubt as Francis Rielly from Schenectady posted a 46 – 47 to win by 5 strokes with a 93. Adam Miller from Westfield, MA finished 5 strokes back with 98. Francis picked up a $120 gift card for the win.

Skins Games
Giants Skins- There were only 2 giant skins, both from Evan Hughes picking up $55 for each.
Champ/Player Flight – Evan cleaned house with two in his flight picking up $40 for each.
Hogan/Palmer Flight – Brett Varney had the only two skins in his flight netting $60 for each.
Tiger Flight – Several skins here with Francis Rielly getting 4, Erin Varney getting one and Jack Gentile getting one. Each for $17.
